Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Midwife to join our team as the Maternity Quality and Safety Programme Coordinator on a fixed-term basis through to 31 March 2027.This role is responsible for supporting maternity clinical quality and safety initiatives across South Canterbury, working closely with maternity practitioners, managers, and stakeholders to drive quality improvement, service development, and best practice. The position provides leadership and coordination for quality and risk management activities, ensuring staff have access to the tools, information, and support needed to deliver safe, high-quality maternity care.Working collaboratively across hospital and community settings, you will coordinate clinical audits, contribute to regional improvement initiatives, support the development of policies and guidelines, analyse and communicate clinical data, and facilitate quality improvement projects that improve outcomes for women, babies, and whānau. You'll also play a key role in supporting consumer engagement and ensuring feedback informs service improvements.This is a unique opportunity to influence maternity services at a strategic level while contributing to meaningful improvements in the quality and safety of care delivered across South Canterbury.About the Team / Service / LocationThe role sits within the Quality Team and works closely with Maternity Services, hospital and community practitioners, governance groups, and multidisciplinary teams.
