The oath was administered during a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome, who reminded Ms. Mutua of the constitutional responsibility ahead and urged her to strictly adhere to the law in the execution of the Commission’s mandate.

“ Public Service Commission has a constitutional duty to ensure public services are rendered in a professional, efficient and effective manner, advancing meritocracy and productivity in the public service while preserving public trust,” said Chief Justice Koome.

Welcoming Ms. Mutua to the Commission, PSC Chairperson Francis Meja described her appointment as a valuable addition to the Commission, citing her extensive experience in public service and human resource management.

Mr. Meja underscored the responsibility entrusted to members of the Commission to uphold the values and principles of public service as provided for under Article 232 of the Constitution.

“Commissioner Mutua, as you join us, I invite you to help advance a Commission that is firm in principle, fair in judgement and responsive in action,” said Mr. Meja.

Ms. Mutua was appointed by President William Ruto as a member of the Public Service Commission to serve a six-year term. She brings to the Commission more than 30 years of experience in public service.

Others who took the Oath of Office during the ceremony were Dr. Duncan Ojwang, who assumed office as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), and Ms. Antonina Lentoijoni and Hon. Wilson Sossion, who joined the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Also present at the ceremony were PSC Vice-Chairperson Mrs. Mary Kimonye and Commissioner Mwanamaka Mabruki.
