Full job description

The specialist will support the Climate Change and Development Authority's Satellite Land Monitoring System Laboratory with GIS, remote sensing, spatial data management, AFOLU measurement/reporting/verification, forest-cover mapping, land-use and commodity datasets, deforestation-driver analysis, risk mapping and technical capacity development.

Requirements & qualifications

Applicants must be nationals of Papua New Guinea and hold a university degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Forestry, Geography, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Geomatics or a related discipline. FAO requires at least five years of relevant professional experience in GIS, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, spatial databases, forest/land-use monitoring and/or AFOLU MRV, plus working knowledge of English.
