As a Network Engineer at Hermeus you will be responsible for installing, configuring, analyzing, and maintaining local and wide area networks. As part of the Information Team you will ensure growth, security, and scalability of all Hermeus networks as well as support cross-org needs for network engineering.
Configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, Access Points (wireless), and VPNs.
Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
Implement and maintain network security, including access controls, intrusion detection systems, and threat prevention.
Manage and administer network services such as DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM).
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.
Collaborate with other IT teams to support infrastructure projects and resolve complex technical issues.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and critical incident response.
Stay up-to-date with emerging network technologies, best practices, and NIST guidelines.
4+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and network hardware.
Experience with network security principles and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Active security clearance strongly preferred.
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with Palo Alto and Juniper network devices.
Background in government or cleared contractor networks.
Experience with FedRAMP authorized cloud solutions (AWS Govcloud, Azure GCC-H, etc..) is a plus.
Experience with network cybersecurity tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, AWS network security tools, Microsoft Defender, etc.
Palo Alto Certification (PCCET, PCNSA, PCNSE, etc.).
Cisco Certifications (CCENT, CCT, CCNA, etc.)
SANs Certification (GSEC, GCIA, GMON, GDSA, etc.).
CompTIA Certification (Network+, Security +, CASP+, etc.).
