NSF anticipates about 55 awards. Each ERI award, including indirect costs, may not exceed $200,000 and runs for 24 months; funds may support research costs, trainees, PI salary and modest necessary equipment.
Eligibility requirements
Submitting institutions must be eligible U.S. higher-education institutions not classified as R1 under the solicitation's referenced Carnegie classification. The PI must hold a doctoral degree in an NSF-supported field and an appointment at an eligible institution; postdoctoral fellows cannot serve as PI. The solicitation also limits prior/current federal research support and permits only one PI with no co-PIs.
