The FY2027 NSF GRFP supports early-stage U.S. STEM graduate researchers with three funded years across a five-year fellowship period.

NSF solicitation 26-526 was posted on 25 August 2026. Deadlines are field-specific at 8:00 p.m. Eastern: 19 October for Life Sciences; 20 October for Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Materials Research, Psychology and Social Sciences; 22 October for Engineering; and 23 October for Chemistry, Geosciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy. Each funded year provides a $37,000 stipend plus a $16,000 cost-of-education allowance to the institution, for three years of support within a five-year fellowship period.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals or permanent residents; pursue or intend to pursue an eligible research-based master's or doctoral STEM degree at an accredited nonprofit U.S. institution; and be at an eligible early graduate-career stage. Detailed limits apply to prior graduate study and professional degrees.
