Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Ontario Territory Sales Representative based in Canada. This remote sales role is focused on growing business across Eastern Canada by building strong relationships with independent pet specialty retailers. You’ll manage a territory, develop sales strategies, open new accounts, and increase product distribution and sales velocity. The position combines field sales, relationship management, retailer education, merchandising, and in-store brand development. You’ll work closely with distributor representatives and retail partners through ride-alongs, training, trade shows, and industry events. The role offers significant autonomy in a fast-paced environment, with extensive regional travel and direct responsibility for territory performance. It’s an opportunity to represent premium pet nutrition products while helping retailers educate consumers and grow their businesses.

Grow territory sales by establishing, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with prospective and existing independent pet specialty retailers. Build and execute territory sales plans and optimized travel routes focused on revenue growth, profitability, distribution, brand development, and awareness. Prospect and open new accounts while supporting onboarding, product assortment, and first-order execution. Present new products, seasonal programs, and promotional initiatives to increase distribution and sales velocity. Collaborate with distributor representatives through ride-alongs, training sessions, and joint account development activities. Ensure appropriate product placement, merchandising, in-store visibility, and brand standards across assigned accounts. Provide retailers with in-person and virtual training, product demonstrations, and education on product benefits and consumer selling strategies. Deliver nutritional and product education that supports informed conversations around premium feeding and treating recommendations. Represent the brands at trade shows and industry events alongside distributors and retailers. Address retailer questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally while maintaining strong commercial relationships. Manage account coverage according to established weekly, monthly, and quarterly priorities and account tiering. Requirements: Proven experience in territory management and sales, with pet specialty, pet food, or a related industry background preferred. Demonstrated ability to build lasting customer relationships, influence purchasing decisions in-store, prospect for new business, and close sales. Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Highly organized, proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, field-based environment. Must reside in Ontario and be able to work within the assigned territory; relocation assistance is not provided. Valid automobile and ability to use a personal vehicle for extensive territory travel. Comfortable with approximately 70–80% day travel and regular overnight travel, including up to four nights per week when required. Availability to work regular business hours of approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Willingness to work approximately 5–10 weekends per year depending on the trade show and industry event schedule. Benefits: Competitive salary with bonus potential. Comprehensive co-funded group health, dental, disability, travel, and life insurance benefits. Remote work structure with significant autonomy in managing the assigned territory. Paid vacation and statutory holidays. Friday summer half days supporting work-life balance. Pet parent leave, including a paid day off for new pet parents and a paid day to mourn the loss of a pet. Employee discounts on pet food, treats, and toppers. Opportunities for professional growth and career development within a dynamic team environment. Inclusive and collaborative workplace culture that values diversity, teamwork, and work-life balance. Opportunity to work closely with independent retailers, distributors, and industry partners across Eastern Canada.
