Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Paediatric Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a community service across the West Midlands. This role involves working with children with eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties, providing specialist assessment and intervention across a range of community settings.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with paediatric dysphagia experience who is confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective swallowing management and improving quality of life for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:• Assess, diagnose, and manage paediatric dysphagia and associated speech, language, and communication needs.• Develop and implement individualised therapy and feeding plans in line with clinical guidelines.• Work closely with families, carers, and education/health professionals to ensure safe swallowing strategies are followed.• Provide specialist advice, training, and support to parents, carers, and staff in managing dysphagia.• Manage a caseload independently across community settings, including homes, schools, and clinics.• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records in accordance with professional standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Significant experience working with paediatric dysphagia.• Strong knowledge of swallowing assessment and management in children.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to work independently and manage a complex caseload.
