Specialist Occupational Therapist – SEN Education Setting
Location: Kent Contract: Ongoing Locum Assignment Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time Available Start Date: September 2026
Our client is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join their therapy team on an ongoing locum basis from September.
The service is a specialist day and residential academy for children and young people aged 8-19 years with moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language needs, and additional complex needs. Set within an extensive campus in Kent, the school offers a highly supportive, multidisciplinary environment focused on helping pupils achieve their full potential and develop essential life skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for Occupational Therapists looking to make a meaningful impact within a specialist educational setting, working alongside teachers, speech and language therapists, support staff, and healthcare professionals to provide integrated, pupil-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions for pupils with a range of additional needs.

Support pupils to develop functional skills, independence, sensory regulation, and access to learning.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to embed therapeutic strategies across the school environment.

Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and annual reviews.

Deliver both direct and indirect interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.

Provide advice, guidance, and training to school staff and families where appropriate.

Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure best practice standards are met.
Requirements:

HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
-
Previous experience working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or learning disabilities.

Understanding of sensory integration principles and occupation-focused practice.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.

Experience within educational or specialist SEN settings is desirable but not essential.
