Reporting to the DCNO, of Women’s and Children’s services, the Paediatric Manager is responsible for providing a high level of leadership management to the nursing and operations of the Paediatric Service line, to ensure clinical and operational processes are developed and implemented within Paediatric ICU and HDU, Paediatric Liver Transplant Program, Paediatric Inpatients, Paediatric Outpatients, and our satellite schools’ clinics.

  • The Paediatric Manager is responsible for providing a high level of leadership management to the nursing and operations of the Paediatric Service line, to ensure clinical and operational processes are developed and implemented within Paediatric ICU and HDU, Paediatric Liver Transplant Program, Paediatric Inpatients, Paediatric Outpatients, and our satellite schools’ clinics.
  • The Paediatric Manager is responsible for providing professional management support to the Paediatric Service Line, working collaboratively with the Clinical Directors and Head of Department for Paediatrics.
  • The Paediatric Manager will provide operational management of the PICU, Paediatric Liver Transplant, Paediatric IP and Paediatric OPD and school services including the delivery of performance against financial, activity, quality and workforce targets as well as supporting the development and delivery of service strategy, staff engagement, organisational development, and the management of risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible clinical nursing leadership across the designated OPD Institute, acting as a role model for professional practice, clinical standards, and patient-centred care.
  • Lead and manage the service within the Paediatric division, whilst sustaining effective working relationships with consultant medical staff, and the nursing team ensuring that the operational requirement of the service is effectively managed and coordinated.
  • Lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff within the Paediatric Service to effectively engage staff maintain the highest level of staff morale and create a climate within the services that is evidenced by high standards and openness.
  • To develop patient-focused services, identifying future financial, capital and workforce requirements and ensuring that contractual and performance targets are met.
  • To work with clinical colleagues in a shared-governance model, to establish and monitor protocols of care provision to deliver efficient and effective care pathways which improve patient outcomes and reduce lengths of stay.
  • Undertake appraisal for own direct reports and ensure personal development plans are identified and implemented.
  • Review all patient feedback and ensure KPIs are monitored as set by the Chief Nursing Office.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Current valid DHA nursing licence or eligibility for DHA registration.
  • Relevant Masters level studies preferable
  • Minimum five years’ recent experience of managing a team of Nurses
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills by guiding, supporting, and managing the team, including overseeing team performance evaluations to ensure effective collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
