The three-year, 70–75% PhD position combines fieldwork, geological mapping, photogrammetry, paleomagnetic dating, petrological and geochemical analysis, geothermobarometry modelling, data analysis and scientific publication. The project examines Prestahnúkur and Hveravellir volcanic systems near Langjökull.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants need a Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology or another project-relevant field completed by the position start, proficiency in written and spoken English, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and capacity to communicate research internationally. Experience in rock magnetism or geochemistry is an advantage. Employment is contingent on admission to PhD studies at the Faculty of Earth Sciences.
