ETH Zurich is recruiting a PhD candidate to study how passengers respond to planned railway maintenance disruptions using revealed-preference and stated-preference surveys and behavioural modelling.

The project will model short- and long-term passenger responses to changes in travel time, transfers, service frequency, delays and replacement services. The doctoral candidate will also contribute to teaching, research projects and scientific publications. The initial contract is planned for 18 months, with continuation assessed after the first year and an expected total doctoral duration of about four years.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants need an MSc in transportation, civil engineering, computer science, spatial planning, geography, geoinformation, psychology, economics or an equivalent field before starting. Experience with discrete-choice modelling and/or survey design is requested, along with English proficiency and data-analysis/programming capability; German is an asset.
