Platform Engineer, Infrastructure

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Engineer, Infrastructure based in Canada. This is an infrastructure engineering role focused on building and operating the foundation behind a global, high-performance bare-metal fleet. You’ll automate server provisioning, configuration, deployment, security, and lifecycle management across physical infrastructure. The role combines hands-on systems engineering with platform tooling, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and reliability. You’ll help make infrastructure faster to provision, safer to operate, more cost-efficient, and easier for distributed engineering teams to manage. You’ll work closely with security and engineering teams on access controls, secrets management, auditability, and operational resilience. As an intermediate-level position, it offers significant ownership and room to grow while working on infrastructure serving high-scale applications. Crypto or blockchain experience is not required; strong infrastructure fundamentals and a willingness to learn are valued most.

Automate the complete server lifecycle, including provisioning, operating-system installation, configuration, hardware validation, and decommissioning. Build and maintain internal tooling that enables engineers to interact with and manage the infrastructure fleet without relying on manual configuration. Standardize software build and deployment processes through CI pipelines, artifact management, deployment tooling, and reliable rollback mechanisms. Execute infrastructure security initiatives alongside security leadership, including SSO-integrated access, jump hosts, secrets management, least-privilege controls, and audit trails. Analyze infrastructure costs, including workload costs, provider comparisons, and hardware refresh requirements, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Improve monitoring and observability across owned infrastructure and participate in on-call rotations and incident response. Create clear operational documentation and runbooks that enable a distributed engineering organization to operate and troubleshoot the systems effectively. Identify opportunities to eliminate repetitive operational work through automation and continuously improve infrastructure reliability, performance, and efficiency. Requirements 3+ years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or a closely related discipline. Hands-on experience managing bare-metal infrastructure, including physical server provisioning, PXE, IPMI/BMC, RAID, NICs, colocation or dedicated-server environments, and hardware-versus-software troubleshooting. Strong Linux fundamentals, including systemd, networking, storage, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Practical experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Salt, or Nix. Solid scripting or programming capabilities in Python, Go, Bash, or a comparable language. Strong security mindset, with an understanding of access controls, blast-radius reduction, secrets management, and secure infrastructure design. Demonstrated ownership and accountability, with the ability to follow problems through to resolution and proactively automate repetitive processes. Comfortable working in a fast-moving, low-ego, direct, and highly autonomous engineering environment. Experience with Rust, high-performance networking, or low-latency systems is an asset. Familiarity with ClickHouse, Prometheus, or Grafana is a plus. Experience working for a high-scale B2B infrastructure company is advantageous. Blockchain or cryptocurrency experience is not required; willingness to learn the underlying technologies is sufficient.
