Aarhus University is recruiting a 24-month postdoc in carbon capture and utilization focused on microbial conversion of captured CO2 to methane and acetic acid.

The project develops biological conversion routes for CO2 from chemical capture agents and includes work with anaerobic methanogenic or acetogenic cultures, microbial physiology, growth kinetics, thermodynamics, inhibition models and model-based data processing. The appointment is full-time from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028 and is linked to the Microbial Conversion Technologies research group and the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Center.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants should hold a PhD in microbiology, biotechnology or a closely related field and have hands-on experience with H2/CO2-based anaerobic pure cultures of methanogens or acetogens, microbial physiology and growth kinetics, inhibition modelling, model-based data processing, and strong written and spoken English.
