The fellow will investigate Latin and the Latin alphabet in Scandinavian inscriptions and their interactions with vernacular languages and runic traditions. Work includes epigraphic mapping, palaeography, textual and linguistic analysis, fieldwork, collaborative outputs and a 10% teaching/administrative component.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants need a PhD or equivalent with specialization in Latin - classical, medieval or neo-Latin - in a field relevant to the project, independent research capacity and fluent English. Scandinavian-language reading proficiency and knowledge of medieval Scandinavia or epigraphic/manuscript sources are desirable.
