Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Engineer III based in the United States. This is a senior power engineering role focused on helping utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects connect safely and reliably to the electrical grid. You will lead complex power system studies while applying engineering judgment to evaluate technical challenges, risks, and design trade-offs. The role combines power systems analysis, renewable energy engineering, project leadership, client engagement, and technical mentoring. You will work across multiple projects, taking ownership of defined scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical outcomes. Your work will directly support the development of renewable energy infrastructure and help project partners make informed engineering decisions. You will collaborate with clients, engineers, and project teams while guiding less-experienced professionals on complex assignments. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced power systems engineer who is analytical, detail-oriented, and motivated by impactful work in the clean energy sector.

As a Power Systems Engineer III, you will independently lead multiple projects or significant portions of complex assignments while delivering high-quality technical studies, designs, documentation, and client support. Perform and lead power system studies, including protective device coordination, short circuit, arc flash, load flow, ampacity, grounding, harmonic, and power quality analyses. Design electrical collection systems, including cable routing and cable sizing. Develop equipment specifications and apply knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar PV modules, inverters, BESS, transformers, cable management systems, and balance-of-system components. Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining completed studies, recommended solutions, and project value. Ensure engineering work complies with applicable company, industry, trade, jurisdictional, safety, and electrical standards and codes. Lead multiple projects with varying levels of complexity while managing scope, schedules, deliverables, and deadlines. Evaluate, select, and apply established engineering procedures, standards, and technical criteria. Prepare and maintain project documentation and engineering deliverables. Support client interactions across multiple projects and participate confidently in project meetings. Assign tasks to and provide direction for less-experienced team members. Mentor staff engineers and contribute to the development of engineering capabilities within the team. Assist with proposals and the development of professional engineering service offerings. Present specific aspects of engineering assignments to clients and project stakeholders with a high level of technical proficiency. Apply sound professional judgment to unconventional or complex engineering problems and adapt techniques when project criteria conflict or require new approaches. Review completed work to ensure technical quality, accuracy, and appropriate engineering judgment. Meet project deliverables and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of technical quality. Perform additional engineering and project responsibilities as assigned. Requirements The role requires advanced power systems analysis experience, strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, and the ability to manage complex projects independently while communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. 5+ years of professional experience in power systems analysis. Advanced knowledge of power systems analysis software such as ETAP, CDEGS, CYMCAP, PSS/E, PSLF, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of power distribution and transmission systems. Experience with solar PV systems and/or battery energy storage systems is desirable. EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is desirable. Experience applying Python or similar programming languages for engineering process automation is preferred. Experience working with vendor-provided dynamic models is preferred. Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical findings and recommendations. Ability to combine creative thinking with rigorous analytical problem-solving. Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and technical quality. Effective time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while consistently meeting project deadlines and deliverables. Ability to mentor and provide technical direction to less-experienced engineers. Benefits Fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Competitive annual compensation of $108,114–$152,403 , with bonus opportunities. Full benefits package with 99% employer-paid health, vision, life, and dental insurance. Medical, dependent care, and commuter Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Monthly health and wellness stipend. Attractive vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Paid parental leave. 401(k) savings plan with 100% employer match up to 6%, with immediate vesting. Profit-sharing program. Paid volunteer time off. Charitable donation matching. Opportunity to contribute to utility-scale renewable energy and battery storage projects supporting the transition to cleaner energy.
