Are You Eligible For A Prize Or Award?
Most prizes are awarded annually for academic achievement in particular units or programs of study. Applications are not required as students are nominated by the relevant faculty according to mid-year and final-year academic results.
For example, there are approximately 600 prizes awarded annually (at a value of $1000 each) as part of the University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize. These awards were established in 2007 to recognise exemplary undergraduate students. The awards aim to both acknowledge and promote student academic excellence. If you win a University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize you will receive $1000 and your achievement will be recorded on your transcript.
Literary prizes do require an application as well as the submission of written work.
What Happens If I Win A Prize?
Prize winners are notified via email. Current students will be contacted at their University email address.
To receive payment you must ensure your bank details are up-to-date in the myFinance tab in Sydney Student. If your most recent bank details are correct in Sydney Student, you do not need to do anything further.
If you need to update your bank details and cannot log into Sydney Student, please complete the Supplier Details Request Form (pdf, 62KB) and email it to scholarships.office@sydney.edu.au.

Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Extracted from a public opportunity page using specific title, application/deadline, eligibility and benefit signals. Aggregator/news pages remain review-controlled unless an official provider page is successfully verified.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
