Complete internship details
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Engineer Intern based in the United States. This is a paid, six-week remote internship designed for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students and recent graduates. You’ll contribute directly to the data infrastructure powering a high-impact public-sector technology platform. The role combines software engineering, web research, data ingestion, and hands-on data-quality ownership. You’ll build and maintain scrapers and ingestion pipelines that collect information from government sources across the United States. You’ll use modern developer tooling and AI agents to research unfamiliar systems and accelerate technical implementation. You’ll gain practical experience working with real-world data, debugging unreliable sources, and building resilient software in a fast-moving startup environment. The expected start date is November 1, 2026 , with the opportunity to make a tangible contribution from day one.
Build and maintain data scrapers and ingestion pipelines for government data sources across the United States. Research new data sources using internal tooling, AI agents, and technical investigation to determine effective extraction approaches. Develop reliable methods for collecting and structuring data from websites, APIs, and other public sources. Validate incoming data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability before it reaches production systems. Monitor existing data sources, troubleshoot failures, identify changes in source behavior, and improve scraper resilience. Investigate inconsistent websites, undocumented behaviors, changing formats, and other real-world data collection challenges. Document source behavior, extraction logic, technical decisions, and data-quality checks to ensure systems remain maintainable. Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while carefully validating generated outputs and ensuring technical accuracy. Collaborate on additional technical and operational initiatives as needed, contributing wherever your skills can have the greatest impact. Requirements: Be a third- or fourth-year undergraduate student or a recent graduate with a strong interest in software engineering and data. Experience with TypeScript ; familiarity with Python for data collection, automation, or analysis is valuable. Familiarity with web scraping or browser automation tools such as BeautifulSoup, Playwright, or Selenium . Comfortable working with HTML, APIs, structured and unstructured data, and formats such as JSON and CSV. Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, version control, and Git-based workflows. Strong attention to detail and a genuine sense of ownership over data quality and technical outcomes. Ability to write clear, maintainable technical documentation. Interest in using AI agents and AI-assisted development tools while critically evaluating and validating their results. Curiosity about public-sector data and persistence when working through inconsistent websites, undocumented systems, and unfamiliar technical environments. Strong learning ability, problem-solving skills, and willingness to investigate how unfamiliar systems work. A collaborative, proactive mindset and the ability to take ownership in a fast-paced remote environment. Prior web-scraping experience is helpful but not required if you demonstrate strong software fundamentals and technical curiosity. Benefits: Paid six-week internship with an expected start date of November 1, 2026. Fully remote work environment. Hands-on experience building production-oriented data scrapers and ingestion pipelines. Exposure to real-world government data sources, APIs, web technologies, and data-quality challenges. Practical experience using AI agents and modern developer tooling to accelerate technical work. Opportunity to learn how high-velocity teams build reliable and trustworthy data products. Direct exposure to software engineering practices involving debugging, documentation, monitoring, resilience, and data validation. Opportunity to develop stronger judgment around data quality, downstream dependencies, and technical tradeoffs. Experience contributing to a mission-driven technology platform operating in highly regulated government environments. Opportunity to work on meaningful technical problems while developing skills that translate directly to future software engineering roles.
