Full Job Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position: Project Superintendent

Contract: 3-years renewable contract

Location: Ibadan

Closing Date: 19 October 2026

DUTIES

  • Lead and manage the on-site construction team i.e. foremen, sub-foremen, artisans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and quality standards.
  • Apportion work among staff according to their specialized training.
  • Coordinate new construction and major remodelling which involves scheduling, meetings, and reviewing of project documents (e.g. contracts, specifications, blueprints) as necessary.
  • Monitor and report on the work progress.
  • Keep track of material stock and orders with the supply chain unit.
  • Create labour and material schedules to guide the project are within the budget.
  • Motivates subordinates and others to top performance.
  • Maintain project files for work scopes, drawings logs, sketches, photographs, and all correspondences.
  • Ensure early and timely delivery of renovated buildings in the residences for take-over by Housing unit.
  • Assist to develop the F.M.S project online database, work order request (WOR) systems for ease of the work.
  • Ensure a good customer relation.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION

HND/B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in construction project supervision, site management, or project execution in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Project Management and Coordination skills.
  • Leadership and Team Management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Safety, Quality, and Compliance Management.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
