QA Engineer (Manual, Web Platform)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineer (Manual, Web Platform) based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to own quality across a critical web platform supporting subscription-based digital products. You will test functionality end to end across frontend, backend, APIs, and third-party integrations in a fast-moving environment with frequent releases. The position goes beyond executing test cases, requiring strong investigation skills, risk-based thinking, and the ability to identify root causes. You will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to validate requirements before development and ensure reliable releases. As a key point of contact for issues raised by Monetization, Finance, and Product Tech teams, you will assess problems and communicate findings clearly. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to automation decisions, documentation, and continuous improvements to QA practices.

Test new platform features end to end across frontend, backend, APIs, and third-party integrations. Perform regression testing before releases and production smoke testing following each release. Validate business and technical requirements with Product and Engineering teams before development begins. Investigate defects using application logs, API responses, browser network traffic, and other diagnostic tools. Create clear, detailed, and reproducible bug reports with relevant evidence and technical context. Act as the first point of contact for quality-related requests from Monetization, Finance, and Product Tech teams. Reproduce reported issues, assess their severity and impact, and escalate findings with clear supporting facts. Maintain and update test documentation in TestRail, Jira, and Confluence. Apply risk-based testing principles to prioritize coverage and focus on the areas with the greatest potential impact. Collaborate with the Automation QA team to identify test cases and scenarios suitable for automation. Use AI-assisted QA tools as part of daily testing workflows while critically reviewing and validating their output. Requirements: 4+ years of hands-on manual QA experience testing web applications across frontend, backend, and API layers. Strong risk-based test design skills, with the ability to explain testing priorities, coverage decisions, and trade-offs. Practical API testing experience with tools such as Postman or Charles and Swagger/OpenAPI. Strong root-cause investigation skills using Chrome DevTools, including HAR files, network activity, and browser storage, as well as application logs. Experience across the full release cycle, including feature testing, regression testing, and production smoke testing. Daily experience using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar solutions in QA workflows, with the ability to critically assess generated outputs. Experience working in a product company or startup environment with frequent releases and short development iterations. Written English strong enough to produce clear technical documentation and reproducible bug reports. Strong ownership, transparency, and communication skills, including the ability to flag risks and delays early. Experience testing payments and subscriptions, including Chargebee, Adapty, Payrails, trials, taxes, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, is a plus. Familiarity with web funnels, A/B testing, analytics event validation, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or GTM dataLayer is advantageous. Experience with Datadog or Grafana is a plus. Experience testing AI-powered features is beneficial. Basic Playwright and TypeScript knowledge is an advantage. Benefits: Fully remote working model.
