We are offering an exciting 12-month Industrial Placement opportunity within our Race Strategy & Tyre Performance Group at Silverstone, giving students the opportunity to contribute to race weekend performance at the highest level of motorsport.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will help analyse race scenarios, understand tyre performance and develop tools that support strategic decision-making. Your work will contribute to race preparation, event support and post-event analysis.

As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop valuable technical skills, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

• Support race strategy and tyre performance engineers with race preparation, race weekend operations and simulation activities
• Assist with running and analysing race strategy simulations to explore potential scenarios and evaluate strategic options
• Contribute to tyre performance analysis, helping engineers understand performance trends and degradation across sessions and events
• Support competitor analysis to develop the team’s understanding of relative performance and potential race strategies
• Assist with the development, testing and improvement of race strategy and tyre performance tools, systems and supporting infrastructure
• Contribute to post-session and post-event reporting, reviewing car and team performance and identifying findings to inform future events
• Help refine operational processes and analysis methods to improve efficiency, consistency and accuracy
• Work closely with the wider Performance and Race Engineering groups to deliver relevant and timely analysis
• Produce clear reports, visualisations and documentation to communicate methods, trends and conclusions
• Support the maintenance of departmental records, administration and reporting procedures
• Consistently and proactively demonstrate the team’s values and behaviours
• Follow Health and Safety, Compliance, Sustainability and other relevant policies, procedures and best practices

Requirements

What do we need from you?

• Currently studying towards a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline

• Strong numerical ability and a sound understanding of mathematical and analytical principles

• Ability to interpret data, identify patterns and draw logical, evidence-based conclusions

• Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with an interest in race strategy and motorsport performance

• A methodical approach to work, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information and analytical findings effectively

• A proactive approach to learning, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced team environment
