This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an R&D Manager based in the United States. This role leads a globally distributed software R&D team building digital products and services for complex enterprise environments. You will combine people leadership, technical judgment, delivery management, and cross-functional collaboration. The team develops SaaS applications, data pipelines, integrations, analytics, monitoring capabilities, and customer-facing solutions. You will translate strategic priorities into clear plans while maintaining strong execution, quality, and operational discipline. The role offers exposure to cloud-native technologies, enterprise integrations, data-centric architectures, and modern software practices. You will work closely with product, engineering, architecture, quality, SRE, support, IT, and other stakeholders. This is an opportunity to shape both technical delivery and team culture within a globally connected R&D environment.

Lead the overall operations, priorities, staffing, and delivery execution of an assigned software R&D team, ensuring work remains aligned with business and product objectives. Provide direct people leadership, including coaching, performance management, career development, and support for software engineers, technical contributors, and contractors. Partner with product management, architecture, quality, SRE, support, IT, marketing, and other stakeholders to coordinate priorities, plans, dependencies, and delivery commitments. Oversee development and delivery of SaaS applications, analytics and monitoring capabilities, data pipelines, integrations, and enterprise software solutions. Support both new product development and sustaining engineering, including participation in production incident triage, resolution, and follow-up activities. Establish effective operating practices that improve planning discipline, execution predictability, software quality, communication, and cross-functional coordination. Identify technical, delivery, dependency, and resource risks, driving mitigation plans, escalation, and corrective actions where needed. Support research, development, and technical evaluation activities that contribute to longer-term product and technology objectives. Contribute to technical decision-making involving cloud-native architectures, data-centric systems, APIs, enterprise integrations, observability, cybersecurity, and operational readiness. Drive agile planning, prioritization, backlog alignment, and coordination across geographically distributed teams. Build a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and customer impact. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience. At least 2 years of formal or informal experience leading people, projects, programs, or technical delivery teams. Experience leading software development or technical delivery within SaaS, enterprise applications, analytics, monitoring, data platforms, laboratory informatics, or related digital product environments. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, agile methodologies, release planning, sustaining support, and cross-functional product development. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, resolve issues, develop team members, and maintain execution focus in a distributed environment. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred experience in life sciences, laboratory informatics, scientific instruments, services, or other regulated enterprise environments. Familiarity with enterprise or B2B cloud platforms, SaaS, data and analytics systems, monitoring solutions, and integration platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of data-centric architectures, including batch or streaming pipelines, data models, and integration patterns, is beneficial. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, web applications, containerization, CI/CD, and DevOps practices is preferred. Experience supporting both new product development and sustaining activities for deployed enterprise software products is a plus. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, predictive analytics, IoT/edge systems, telemetry ingestion, digital twins, or data-driven laboratory operations is advantageous. Experience with agile development, distributed collaboration, and cross-functional planning across product, engineering, architecture, quality, and operations is valued. Benefits US base salary: $150,000–$234,375 per year, with the exact range determined by work location and factors such as skills, experience, education, and training. Additional compensation: Eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits. Remote flexibility: Full-time position with the option to work remotely.
