Research Ireland is accepting rolling supplemental-grant applications enabling eligible active grant holders in Ireland to host displaced researchers from Ukraine on existing funded research projects.

The scheme is open for new applications and extensions. Each award runs for three months to one year, and cumulative support for an individual researcher since 2022 cannot exceed 24 months. Eligible costs include salary-related research-staff costs, materials/consumables up to €2,000, and up to €2,000 toward a computer for a new supplemental award. Research Ireland also contributes eligible overheads in line with the parent award.
Eligibility requirements
The lead applicant must be the Principal Investigator on an eligible active Research Ireland grant of scale at an eligible host Research Body. The supported displaced researcher must be located in the Republic of Ireland and hold a Department of Justice letter confirming Temporary Protection under the EU Directive. The host institution must provide the necessary research space and infrastructure; specified small or infrastructure-focused award types are excluded.
