Mō tēnei tūranga | About this roleAre you an experienced education professional who enjoys asking insightful questions, analysing evidence and helping drive improvement?The Education Review Office (ERO) is seeking Review Officers to undertake review and regulatory activity across hostels, private schools and charter schools. These roles play an important part in supporting high-quality education, learner wellbeing, regulatory compliance and public confidence in New Zealand's education system.As a Review Officer, you'll gather and analyse evidence, identify strengths, risks and areas for improvement, and contribute to balanced, evidence-based judgements and reporting. Working alongside education providers and sector stakeholders, you'll help ensure review and regulatory activities are rigorous, fair, consistent and focused on positive outcomes for learners.In this role, you will:Plan and undertake review and regulatory activities across hostels, private schools and charter schools.Gather, analyse and synthesise evidence from a range of sources.Identify risks, compliance issues, areas of good practice and opportunities for improvement.Contribute to high-quality reports, recommendations and regulatory advice.Build constructive relationships with proprietors, boards, hostel managers, school leaders, whānau and sector partners.Support consistent, evidence-based practice across ERO's national review programmes.Contribute to regulatory decision-making through robust evidence gathering and analysisMōhou ake | About youYou may come from a background in education leadership, hostel management, quality assurance, evaluation, review, regulation, compliance or improvement-focused practice.To succeed in this role, you'll bring:Knowledge of the New Zealand education system.Strong understanding of hostels, private schools and/or charter schools.Experience in evaluation, review, quality assurance, regulation or compliance environments.Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.The ability to interpret complex information and make sound, evidence-based judgements.Strong written communication and report-writing capability.Confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.High levels of integrity, professionalism and impartiality.A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equitable outcomes for learners.Ko mātou | About UsAt ERO, our work makes a difference.
