Global Round 3 and Cost Share Round 3 opened 30 July 2026 and close 24 September 2026. The official 2026 Global Round scheme notes state a 15:00 UK-time closing time. Global-round funding can cover travel, subsistence and research expenses: up to £3,000 for a one-off visit of up to three months, up to £6,000 for multiple visits within one year, or up to £12,000 for multiple visits within two years. Cost-share projects can receive up to £12,000 from the Royal Society plus up to £12,000 equivalent from the overseas partner funder. Round 3 cost-share partners are JSPS in Japan and NSTC in Taiwan.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience, hold a fixed or permanent contract at an eligible organisation for the duration of the project, be based in the relevant country or territory at application, and propose research within the Royal Society natural-sciences remit. The scheme is intended to establish new collaborations rather than continue existing or recent collaborations.
