Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Platform Engineer - AI Focus to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade Azure cloud and hybrid-cloud platforms for a large Financial Services organization. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in establishing a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud foundation that enables application teams to rapidly deliver business value.

This role combines deep expertise in Azure platform engineering, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), AI service enablement, cloud networking, and platform automation. You will work closely with architecture, security, and application teams to operationalize Azure AI capabilities while ensuring compliance, governance, reliability, and financial accountability.

Azure Platform Architecture & Engineering

• Design and implement enterprise-scale Azure Landing Zones aligned with security, governance, and operational best practices.
• Build and manage greenfield Azure environments from the ground up, supporting both cloud-native and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Develop scalable and reusable platform patterns that accelerate application onboarding and deployment.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Engineering teams to define cloud adoption and modernization strategies.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Develop and maintain modular, reusable, and enterprise-grade Terraform modules and frameworks.
• Standardize infrastructure provisioning across subscriptions, environments, and business units.
• Implement policy-driven governance, compliance, and environment consistency through Infrastructure as Code.
• Establish CI/CD deployment frameworks for infrastructure lifecycle management.

AI Platform Enablement

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure AI services to support GenAI and intelligent application workloads.

• Enable secure and scalable integration with:

• Azure OpenAI Service

• Azure AI Search

• Azure AI Document Intelligence

• Azure AI Content Safety

• Azure AI Foundry

• Partner with AI and application teams to operationalize AI services within enterprise platform standards.

• Implement networking, security, monitoring, and governance controls for AI workloads.

API Management & Platform Connectivity

• Design and manage enterprise API gateway solutions using Azure API Management (APIM) and/or Kong.
• Establish secure API lifecycle management practices, including authentication, authorization, throttling, versioning, and monitoring.
• Enable secure communication between cloud services, AI platforms, and on-premises systems.

Cloud Networking & Security

• Architect secure Azure network topologies using:

• Virtual Networks (VNets)

• VNet Peering

• Azure Firewall

• Private Endpoints

• Private DNS

• ExpressRoute / VPN Connectivity

• Implement Zero Trust principles and secure-by-design cloud architectures.

• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, risk, and regulatory requirements.

FinOps, Monitoring & Reliability

• Proactively optimize cloud costs through resource analysis, SKU selection, rightsizing, and governance controls.
• Develop cost monitoring dashboards, alerts, and reporting mechanisms.
• Implement comprehensive observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and related tooling.
• Establish proactive alerting to improve platform reliability and prevent budget overruns.

Platform Automation & DevOps

• Design and maintain GitHub Actions workflows for automated deployment of infrastructure and application components.
• Implement CI/CD best practices, testing, policy enforcement, and deployment automation.
• Improve operational efficiency through scripting, automation, and self-service platform capabilities.

Architecture & Documentation

• Produce professional cloud architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to cloud platform strategy and roadmap planning.

Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing Azure cloud environments.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud platform and infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments such as Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, or similar industries is highly desirable.

Microsoft Azure

• Strong expertise across core Azure services and platform capabilities.
• Experience implementing Azure Landing Zones and enterprise governance frameworks.

Infrastructure as Code

• Expert-level proficiency with Terraform.
• Experience developing reusable Terraform modules and managing large-scale deployments.

AI Platform Services

• Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry.
• Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI Service and associated Azure AI services.
• Understanding of AI workload deployment, governance, and operational requirements.

Networking

• Expert knowledge of:

• Azure VNets

• Network Segmentation

• VNet Peering

• Azure Firewall

• Private Link

• DNS Architecture

• Hybrid Connectivity

API Management

• Hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM) and/or Kong API Gateway.
• Strong understanding of API security and lifecycle management.

DevOps & Automation

• Strong experience with GitHub Actions.
• CI/CD implementation expertise for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Monitoring & FinOps

• Experience implementing cloud cost governance and FinOps practices.
• Expertise in Azure monitoring and observability tooling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or equivalent).
• Terraform Associate certification.
• Experience with enterprise security and compliance frameworks.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and container platforms.
• Understanding of AI/ML platform operationalization and GenAI solution architectures.
• Experience supporting platform engineering teams within large-scale enterprise environments.
