Senior Consultant – Data Analytics & Transaction Monitoring Scenario Tuning
Location: Dubai, UAE (Onsite)
About the Role We're looking for a Senior Consultant to support a leading UAE bank in assessing, tuning, and enhancing its Transaction Monitoring (TM) scenarios and broader data analytics processes. The focus areas include improving scenario effectiveness, reducing false positives, strengthening typology coverage, remediating open findings, and supporting an upcoming TM system upgrade.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing TM scenarios, thresholds, alert volumes, analyst workload, QA findings, STR/SAR conversion rates, and regulatory observations
- Support remediation of findings raised by Internal Audit, Model Risk Management, regulators, and external reviewers
- Review and enhance the bank's typology coverage assessment process and identify potential scenario coverage gaps
- Perform ad hoc scenario parameter and threshold tuning to reduce false positives without compromising risk coverage
- Conduct pre- and post-tuning analysis, documenting methodology, results, and recommendations
- Support TM-related data profiling, reconciliation, validation, data quality assessment, and issue remediation
- Assist with the TM system upgrade — business requirements, data mapping, testing, UAT, regression testing, and post-implementation support
- Coordinate closely with Compliance, TM Operations, Model Risk Management, Technology, Data Management, and system vendors
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years' experience in transaction monitoring, AML analytics, scenario tuning, model validation, or financial crime compliance at UAE banks or similar institutions
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions, proliferation financing, and relevant financial crime typologies (UAE experience preferred)
- Experience analysing transaction, customer, alert, and scenario performance data
- Experience supporting audit, regulatory, or model validation remediation
- Proficiency in SQL, advanced Microsoft Excel, and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Knowledge of Python, R, SAS, or similar analytical tools is advantageous
- Familiarity with SAS transaction monitoring
- Strong analytical, documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills
