We are looking for a curious and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Insights team within the Performance and Implementation group.This is an opportunity to lead complex data projects, contribute to the strategic direction of the group, and coach and mentor others to deliver high-quality work.As Senior Data Analyst, you will collect, organise, analyse and interpret data to provide meaningful insights. You will translate complex technical information into clear language for leaders, Ministers and broader audiences, and turn business requirements and feedback into precise technical specifications for data teams.Reporting to the Chief of Data and Insights, you will play a leadership role in designing and delivering the team's work programme and help build data capability across ERO.Key responsibilities include:Designing, developing and leading data projects across ERO and with education sector partnersProviding expert advice on using data and analysis to improve efficiency, quality and business practicesCollecting, managing, analysing and visualising ERO and education sector dataResponding to information requests and working with stakeholders to interpret and validate resultsDeveloping measurement frameworks and methodologies to monitor ERO's performance and impactMaintaining clear documentation of business rules, methodologies, definitions and assumptionsSupporting robust commissioning, management and quality assurance processesBuilding capability through coaching and mentoring within the team and across EROMōhou ake | About youYou will be a highly skilled analyst with advanced quantitative capability, sound judgement and the confidence to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.To be successful in this role, you'll bring:A relevant tertiary qualificationAdvanced technical skills using tools such as MS Excel, RStudio, Power BI, Stata or SQL to collect, manage, analyse and visualise dataStrong knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling, including regression modellingThe ability to lead complex work programmes and deliver high-quality work under pressureExcellent written and verbal communication and confidence presenting to multiple audiencesSound judgement and an innovative approach to identifying, analysing and resolving problemsA working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the education sectorKnowledge of the New Zealand public sector and experience working with MinistersCuriosity, integrity, adaptability, self-motivation and a commitment to ongoing learning.Ko mātou | About Us At ERO you'll find:Meaningful work that contributes to better outcomes for children and young peopleThe opportunity to shape how data and evidence inform decisions across a national organisationA collaborative team that values curiosity, creativity, quality and continuous learningWork with ERO leaders, education agencies, institutions and research communitiesThe opportunity to coach others and build data capability across EROFlexible ways of working and a focus on wellbeing.Me pēhea te tuku tono | How to apply If you are a curious, experienced data analyst who can turn complex information into clear, actionable insights, we'd love to hear from you.Please click Apply to view the full position description and submit your application.
