This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Environment Artist based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to create immersive, photorealistic environments for ambitious PC and console games within an experienced game development team. You will take playable environments from early concepts through final implementation, combining artistic craftsmanship with strong technical execution. Working closely with level designers, artists, directors and production teams, you will help bring compelling worlds and gameplay spaces to life. The role covers the full environment art pipeline, from modeling and sculpting through texturing, materials and optimization. You will also contribute to production workflows, quality standards and creative problem-solving across the team. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated environment artist who wants meaningful creative ownership in a collaborative game development environment.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality game environments from conception to completion while collaborating closely with creative and production teams. Key responsibilities include: Take playable environments through the full development process, from initial concept to final implementation. Create high-quality, photorealistic environmental assets with detailed textures and materials. Build realistic levels and environments that support the artistic and gameplay vision. Collaborate with level designers and other artists to translate concepts into compelling playable spaces. Plan, estimate and prioritize tasks while managing timelines and tracking progress. Identify and resolve bugs, performance challenges and technical budget issues affecting environments. Incorporate feedback from creative directors and art leads into ongoing work. Collaborate with the wider development team to achieve high standards of visual quality and technical accuracy. Contribute to defining and improving environment art production workflows and best practices. Participate in brainstorming and concept development sessions, contributing creative ideas and innovative approaches. Help ensure environments meet performance requirements while maintaining the desired visual quality. Communicate progress, challenges and requirements clearly with production and cross-functional teams. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines strong artistic ability with hands-on experience developing high-quality game environments and a solid understanding of modern environment art pipelines. You should be collaborative, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of your work from concept through implementation. Exceptional portfolio demonstrating high-quality photorealistic environment art. 3+ years of professional experience working as an Environment Artist in game development. Experience developing AAA-quality titles for PC and/or console platforms. Strong understanding of the complete environment art pipeline, including sculpting, retopology, baking, UVs, texturing and material creation. Professional experience with Unreal Engine 5. Proficiency with tools such as Maya or Blender, ZBrush and Adobe Substance Suite. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. High degree of self-motivation, initiative and ownership. Ability to collaborate effectively with artists, level designers, production teams and creative leadership. Strong attention to visual quality, technical accuracy and performance considerations. Experience with Unreal Engine 5 technologies such as Nanite, Lumen, PCG and Blueprints is a strong asset. Experience with Layered Material Systems is a plus. Background in traditional art is beneficial. Concept art skills are an advantage. Benefits: Annual salary of $105,000–135,000 CAD. 6.5 weeks of paid vacation. Unlimited sick days.
