Full Job Description

Company: Salt Hospitality Studio Role: Senior Event Sales Manager Reports into: Managing Director Location: London Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed-term (42.5 hours per week) Contract Length: 12 months (Maternity Cover)

Who Salt Hospitality are:

Salt Hospitality Studio is a new hospitality business, launched as a joint venture between Smart Group and Broadwick. Salt is the exclusive catering and hospitality partner across Broadwick's 12 London venues, including Magazine London, Troxy, Exhibition White City, Control Room A, OXO2, Banking Hall, Landing Forty Two, Drumsheds, Landing Canary Wharf, Broadwick Studio, 26 Leake Street and The Pelligon. Salt exists to do things differently: to move beyond the idea of "in-house catering" and build a hospitality brand in its own right, with its own team, kitchens, identity and standards, built around exceptional food, beverage and service.

What we’re looking for:

As Senior Event Sales Manager, you will be the main point of contact for all catering sales at Magazine London, ensuring a proactive approach and maintaining a high conversion rate, while also supporting sales activity across the rest of the Salt portfolio and acting as a senior, supportive presence within the wider Sales team.

This is a maternity cover role majoring in catering sales for Magazine London, a purpose built, 24,179 sq m destination and the largest venue of its kind in London, offering a striking blank canvas for culture and commerce. Since launching in 2019, the venue has hosted a huge variety of events ranging from large scale awards dinners and standing receptions to high end product launches, cultural events and exhibitions.

This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of one of Salt's flagship venues while acting as a senior member of the wider Sales function for the duration of the cover period.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Account Manager - Magazine London

  • Acting as the main point of contact for all sales enquiries at Magazine London, ensuring a proactive approach and a consistently high conversion rate.
  • Maintaining and building the relationship with the Magazine London events team, protecting Salt's profile and preferred caterer status.
  • Developing and owning a tailored sales and marketing plan for Magazine London, working with the Managing Director and wider team to meet the venue's annual revenue target.
  • Establishing clients' needs (end user, agent or venue) and presenting effective event solutions.
  • Producing proposals for all bespoke event enquiries, and employing the appropriate resources, such as site visits, menu tastings and event out messes, to elevate Salt above competitors.
  • Maximising the conversion of enquiries to confirmed business from new clients and venue referrals.
  • Attending events held at Magazine London, acting as a point of contact and familiarity for both client and venue, alongside the Planning team who lead delivery from confirmation through to completion.

Event Planning

  • During busier periods, or for key clients, acting as the dedicated event planner and client point of contact throughout, from confirmation through to event completion.
  • Personally planning and delivering these events, taking ownership of logistics, creative delivery and client management.
  • Acting as the onsite client point of contact on the day, resolving any issues calmly and ensuring delivery matches the agreed brief.
  • Working closely with Kitchen and Operations to ensure event briefs are executed with precision and flair.

Wider Portfolio Support

  • Supporting sales activity across the wider Salt portfolio of twelve venues as needed, working with venue teams to maintain Salt's profile and accredited status.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of venues across the portfolio, and welcoming the opportunity to grow and develop existing relationships.
  • Identifying areas where Salt can create new product ideas and creativity, working closely with the Managing Director and wider Sales team to implement these initiatives.
  • Supporting marketing activities such as newsletters and social media content across the portfolio.

Leadership and Management Support

  • Acting as a senior member of the Sales team, offering support, guidance and mentorship to colleagues where helpful.
  • Supporting the Managing Director with the wider management of the team as needed.
  • Helping to maintain a positive, high performing culture within the team, in keeping with Salt's brand and values.
  • Leading by example with a calm, positive and solutions focused approach, especially during peak periods.

Commercial, Compliance and Reporting

  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of Salt's product and communicating this to clients and venues.
  • Producing presentations, reports, statistics and information on sales performance across Magazine London and the wider portfolio as required.
  • Maintaining a keen appreciation of the commercial aspect of the role, where margin, value and the ongoing strengthening of the bottom line are paramount.

Client and Venue Relationships

  • Representing Salt's values in your general conduct and in your dealings with clients and venues.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of venues, clients, competitors, markets and the industry, with awareness of the impact of developments in these areas.
  • Representing Salt positively both internally and externally.
  • Complying with the requirements of Salt's Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures, observing safe working practices both at base and at events.
  • Performing any other reasonable duties required in pursuit of the efficient and profitable management of the business.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience in event or catering sales within a venue, catering or hospitality business, managing enquiries through to confirmed bookings.
  • A strong commercial track record, with experience meeting revenue targets, achieving high conversion rates and protecting margin.
  • Strong account management skills, with the ability to build trust with clients, agents and venue teams and develop lasting relationships.
  • Experience creating and presenting bespoke event proposals, with the confidence to guide client decisions and secure commercially sound bookings.
  • Practical experience planning events from confirmation through to completion, including coordinating logistics and acting as the onsite client contact.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance active sales enquiries, event commitments and competing deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively across Sales, Planning, Kitchen and Operations, keeping communication clear and client commitments achievable.
  • Confidence supporting and guiding colleagues, sharing your experience and contributing to a positive team environment.
  • A calm, proactive approach to problem solving, with the judgement to make sound decisions and maintain client confidence when plans change.
  • A good understanding of food, beverage and hospitality, and the ability to connect quality, creativity and service with commercial priorities.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience selling premium catering for large scale dinners, receptions, product launches or exhibitions.
  • Familiarity with Magazine London, Broadwick's venues or the wider London events market.
  • Experience working across a portfolio of venues, adapting your sales approach to different spaces and client audiences.
  • Experience using CRM or event management systems to organise enquiries, track sales activity and support reporting.
