About Us

Full job description

About Us OpenFX is on a mission to move money as freely as data, unrestricted by time zones, banking hours, or legacy systems. We are building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of cross-border payment systems for institutions. The team's execution has been exceptional, and we're scaling at a remarkable pace. Our stellar early team comes with experience in companies like J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, FalconX, PayPal, Affirm, Polygon, Kraken, Nium & others. We're backed by Accel, Lightspeed, NfX and other top-tier investors. Role Overview We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend for our Banking team. This is the senior-most individual contributor role for the banking user experience and the frontend platform behind it — onboarding, banking product screens, and the unification of banking and payments, along with the SDK and shared foundations that let those experiences be built quickly and integrated externally. You will report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with engineers, product, and design. You will set the standard for how frontend is built across the platform, lead the hardest frontend problems, and make other teams faster. This role requires someone who has built frontend as a platform, not just individual product screens. If your experience is limited to single-product frontends without reuse, consistency, or SDK thinking, this will be a stretch. Key Responsibilities Own the frontend technical direction for banking: onboarding, the unified banking and payments experience, and banking product surfaces. Design and build a Banking frontend SDK - hooks and UI components - packaged for external integration, with documentation and framework integrations. Shape the shared component library and a micro-frontend approach that keep product surfaces consistent. Define frontend coding and component standards across the platform. Own the frontend observability and test-automation bar so regressions are caught before customers feel them. Mentor frontend engineers and help set what great looks like when hiring. Partner across product and design to turn complex flows into coherent experiences. What We Are Looking For Must-haves: Significant experience as a senior or staff-level frontend engineer, owning complex web applications in production. Deep expertise in frontend architecture, component and design systems, and state management at scale. Strong grasp of frontend performance, accessibility, and correctness. Excellent technical communication and the ability to lead initiatives across teams without formal authority. Fluency in a modern TypeScript and React frontend stack. What helps you stand out: Experience designing and shipping SDKs or libraries for external consumption. Experience with micro-frontends or Module Federation. Contract-driven frontend development against a backend-for-frontend with generated types. Ownership of a design system or component library used across multiple product surfaces. Experience building frontend observability and end-to-end test automation. What Success Looks Like The banking frontend - onboarding, product surfaces, and the unified experience — is fast, correct, and consistent across every surface. The Banking SDK is shipped, documented, and adopted by external integrators without hand-holding. Engineers across product teams ship faster because of the component library, standards, and shared foundations you've built. Regressions are caught in test automation before customers encounter them. You've raised the technical ceiling of frontend engineering at OpenFX, not just delivered individual screens. What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package. Equity in a rapidly growing company. Opportunity to work in a fast-paced startup at the forefront of fintech innovation. Opportunity to make a significant impact on global financial infrastructure. Collaborative work culture with emphasis on personal and professional growth. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
