Full job description

At Kpler, we are dedicated to helping our clients navigate complex markets with ease. By simplifying global trade information and providing valuable insights, we empower organisations to make informed decisions in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.

Since our founding in 2014, we have focused on delivering top-tier intelligence through user-friendly platforms. Our team of over 850 experts from 69 countries works tirelessly to transform intricate data into actionable strategies, ensuring our clients stay ahead in a dynamic market landscape. Join us to leverage cutting-edge innovation for impactful results and experience unparalleled support on your journey to success.

About the Role As a Senior Fullstack Engineer on our Web Experience team, you will play a critical role in evolving the frontend platform behind Kpler’s flagship applications: MarineTraffic and Kpler Terminal. Working within a senior crew alongside product managers and designers, you will unify our web applications on a shared monorepo and micro-frontend architecture while building platform-level microservices that power capabilities for around 20 feature teams. Your technical leadership and engineering standards will directly shape how millions of global users interact with real-time trade, energy, and maritime intelligence.

Unify multi-platform user experience: Drive the migration of flagship applications onto Atlas, Kpler's component library and shared Tailwind-based design system built in Vue 3 and React . Build platform-level microservices: Design and scale Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers and microservices powering maps, search, user dashboards, and preferences across web and mobile platforms . Elevate developer experience: Empower ~20 feature teams by modernizing monorepo tooling, CI automation, migration pathways, and frontend architectural conventions . Pioneer AI-first engineering: Integrate advanced AI development tools like Cursor and Claude Code across the engineering lifecycle to optimize workflows and boost technical velocity . Champion architectural excellence: Architect resilient, decoupled systems leveraging hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), event-driven patterns, and micro-frontends . Mentor and elevate engineering craft: Guide crew members through technical documentation, code reviews, frontend chapter presentations, and biweekly developer sessions .

What you'll need (Must-haves) Senior fullstack engineering experience: Proven track record of architecting, building, and operating production web applications and microservices at scale . Core technical stack proficiency: Mastery of TypeScript across the stack, modern frontend frameworks (Vue 3, React), and backend services using Node.js . Platform & API architecture: Deep experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns, and data persistence (PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kafka) . Pragmatic delivery & platform mindset: Eagerness to balance high architectural quality with rapid, iterative product delivery that enables both end-users and developer teams . AI-assisted engineering approach: Active hands-on experience utilizing AI development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate daily engineering workflows . Nice-to-haves Specialized web technologies: Experience with Mapbox, GraphQL schema federation, Python, or Scala . Advanced architecture & tooling: Practical experience with monorepos, micro-frontends, hexagonal architecture, or Domain-Driven Design (DDD) . Design system maintenance: Experience maintaining or contributing to shared component libraries and design systems utilized across multiple teams .
