Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer based in United Kingdom. This role offers the opportunity to design, operate, and continuously evolve Kubernetes platforms supporting demanding production environments. You’ll work across platform engineering, infrastructure automation, observability, security, and developer enablement. The position combines hands-on technical ownership with opportunities to influence platform architecture and infrastructure roadmaps. You’ll collaborate with distributed, multinational teams and help establish reliable, scalable, and secure engineering practices. Your expertise will contribute to CI/CD, GitOps, monitoring, compliance, and automation initiatives across complex environments. The role also provides scope to mentor colleagues and contribute to the technical growth of the wider engineering organization. It is an excellent fit for a self-directed Kubernetes specialist who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges at scale.
Design, operate, maintain, and evolve Kubernetes-based platforms for production environments at scale. Manage Kubernetes cluster lifecycles, ingress controllers, service meshes, cert-manager, and related platform components. Develop and maintain Helm charts and Kustomize configurations for repeatable platform deployments. Work extensively with OKD/OpenShift and platform technologies to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions. Automate platform provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Helm. Design and operate CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, including ArgoCD-based deployment models. Develop automation and platform tooling using Go, Python, and/or Bash. Build and improve observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry. Design and implement SLI/SLO frameworks for distributed systems, helping improve reliability and operational visibility. Integrate security standards, compliance requirements, and platform security best practices into infrastructure architectures. Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams on technical initiatives, platform roadmaps, and infrastructure improvements. Mentor colleagues, contribute to technical knowledge sharing, and support the continuous improvement of engineering practices. Create and maintain platform documentation, including architecture decision records, runbooks, and technical design materials. Requirements Several years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure, or a closely related discipline. At least 1 year of hands-on, daily production experience with Kubernetes, including cluster lifecycle management and core platform components. Strong practical experience with Terraform and Helm for infrastructure automation and configuration management. Hands-on experience with OKD or OpenShift. Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, ideally using ArgoCD. Strong programming or scripting capabilities in Go, Python, and/or Bash. Solid knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, with experience applying observability practices to distributed systems. Experience with SLI/SLO design and reliability engineering principles. Understanding of security standards, platform security practices, and integrating compliance requirements into infrastructure architectures. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated mentoring experience or a willingness to contribute to the technical development of colleagues. Structured, autonomous, dependable, and proactive approach to work. Comfortable working within multinational and distributed teams. Very good written and spoken English. Benefits 100% remote work , providing flexibility to work from an environment where you are most productive. Opportunity to work on international technology projects across multiple markets. Exposure to complex cloud, Kubernetes, platform engineering, and infrastructure challenges. Professional development and international career opportunities. Collaborative and dynamic working environment with experienced technical teams. Health and life insurance. Access to opportunities and support for candidates outside the European Union through a Tech Visa framework. Experience working with distributed teams across Europe and international project environments. Opportunity to mentor colleagues and influence technical direction and infrastructure roadmaps.
