THE ROLE Legora is building the benefits infrastructure to support a fast-scaling, globally distributed company. We're looking for a Senior Manager, Global Benefits to own our benefits and leave of absence programs across the US and our international footprint, from plan design through day-to-day administration. You'll report to the VP of Rewards, set the global benefits strategy, and work closely with a Senior Manager, Total Rewards based in our EMEA region and a Total Rewards Analyst to make sure that strategy actually lands in each market. A Benefits Analyst will report to you, giving you a partner for the day-to-day execution as the function grows. This is a hands-on role for someone who has run pieces of a global benefits function before and wants to build the rest of it largely from scratch. There's a clear path to grow into a Director role as the function matures and the team expands. WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Own Legora's benefits and leave of absence strategy across the US and our international footprint (Sweden, UK, Australia, and other markets as we expand), balancing employee impact, competitiveness, and cost
• Partner with the regional Senior Manager, Total Rewards and Total Rewards Analyst to execute benefits strategy locally, translating global design decisions into plans that hold up under each market's regulations and norms
• Lead the end-to-end annual cycle: renewals, open enrollment, plan changes, carrier transitions, and new-country benefit launches
• Manage broker, carrier, and third-party administrator relationships, including RFPs, negotiations, contracting, and ongoing performance
• Ensure compliance with benefits regulations in each market Legora operates in (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and local statutory requirements internationally), partnering with Legal on new-market entry
• Own the global leave of absence program, keeping it consistent and well administered as headcount grows
• Manage the benefits budget with Finance, using utilization, cost, and sentiment data to guide plan design decisions
• Build clear, localized employee communications so people actually understand and use what Legora offers, working with the regional team to adapt messaging market by market
• Partner with People Business Partners and Talent Acquisition so benefits are a genuine strength in the employee and candidate experience
• Build the processes, documentation, and system configuration within our HRIS that let this function scale as Legora keeps growing
• Support benefits due diligence and integration work as Legora completes acquisitions
• Hire, manage, and develop a Benefits Analyst and other benefits team members as the function grows WHAT YOU BRING
• 7+ years of progressive benefits experience, spanning both US and international benefits landscapes
• Deep US benefits expertise across health and welfare plan design, 401(k), leave, and compliance (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA and state equivalents)
• Real international benefits experience, ideally in EMEA and/or APAC, with a clear sense that statutory minimums are a starting point rather than a full program
• Vendor and broker management experience, including RFPs, negotiations, and holding partners accountable
• Financial fluency, with the ability to build and defend a benefits budget and model cost scenarios
• Strong communication skills, able to translate complex benefits concepts clearly for employees and leadership
• Experience partnering with regional HR or Total Rewards teams to execute a global strategy locally, rather than owning every market directly
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, still-forming environment where you'll help build the function, not just run it
• Experience with modern HRIS platforms (e.g., HiBob, or similar) and using data to guide plan decisions
• Knowledge working with Human Resources Outsourcing (HRO) providers is a plus
• Experience managing or mentoring a benefits analyst or coordinator, with the ability to grow the team over time REPORTING LINE This role reports directly to Legora's VP, Rewards, with a path to grow into a Director role as the benefits function and team mature. A Benefits Analyst reports into this role. It also partners closely with a regional Senior Manager, Total Rewards and a Total Rewards Analyst to execute global benefits strategy across markets.
