Senior Mobile Software Engineer, Quality Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer, Quality Engineering based in Brazil. This role focuses on advancing mobile quality engineering through automation, developer tooling, and AI-powered approaches to software testing. You will build and evolve comprehensive test automation across native iOS and Android applications, covering the full testing pyramid. The position combines hands-on mobile engineering with test architecture, CI/CD integration, quality measurement, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with mobile engineers to design highly testable systems, improve modularity, and strengthen automation coverage for features and releases. The role also involves identifying weaknesses across complex systems, troubleshooting difficult failures, and improving the reliability and signal quality of test suites. Working in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment, you’ll collaborate across Product, Engineering, CI/CD, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver reliable experiences at scale.

Lead the implementation of mobile test automation strategies across unit, service, integration, and end-to-end testing for iOS and Android customer use cases. Build, maintain, and effectively utilize automated tests using Swift and Kotlin while collaborating closely with native mobile engineering teams. Develop and maintain comprehensive automation coverage for product features and releases across both mobile platforms. Improve existing automation frameworks to support new functionality while increasing testing efficiency, reliability, and coverage. Collaborate with CI/CD teams to integrate automated tests into development pipelines and reduce build and feedback latency. Own the health and signal quality of mobile automation suites by reducing flaky tests, improving execution time and debuggability, and defining meaningful quality metrics. Use quality signals such as test coverage, flaky test rates, execution time, and escaped defects to prioritize improvements and demonstrate impact. Troubleshoot complex test failures, isolate issues, verify bug fixes, and investigate device- and emulator-specific problems. Participate in design reviews and guide engineering decisions toward greater modularity, testability, and fault tolerance. Apply AI and modern tooling to accelerate Quality Engineering practices and improve testing and developer productivity. Collaborate with Product Management, mobile development, CI/CD, and other Quality Engineering teams in a fast-paced environment with short release cycles. Contribute to a culture of strong code quality, technical craftsmanship, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Requirements: 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering and software testing. Strong hands-on experience with at least one native mobile technology stack, either Kotlin/Android SDK or Swift/iOS SDK, along with working knowledge of the other. Experience with modern mobile build tools such as Gradle and Xcode. Strong understanding of software test automation methodologies, tools, and frameworks. Hands-on experience with mobile automation frameworks such as Espresso, Compose Test, or XCUITest. Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Buildkite, Spinnaker, Jenkins, or Fastlane. Strong Git and version-control experience. Experience using quality metrics such as coverage, flaky test rates, suite execution time, and escaped defects to guide engineering priorities. Proven ability to develop solutions for ambiguous and complex technical problems involving multiple teams. Experience designing integrations or technical solutions with significant cross-team impact. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with cross-functional teams. Curiosity and practical interest in applying AI or LLM technologies to software testing and developer productivity. Comfortable collaborating professionally in English.
