Our partner is looking for a Senior Open-Source Python Engineer, ML Developer Tools based in United States. This remote role offers the opportunity to build developer tools that make machine learning more accessible to engineers and creators worldwide. You will join an applications-focused engineering team developing open-source libraries and frameworks for building modern ML applications. The role combines advanced Python engineering with API design, developer experience, real-time systems, and web application development. You will help take early-stage projects from their first users through broader adoption by shaping APIs, documentation, demos, and community engagement. Your work will directly influence foundational tools used by a growing global community of machine learning developers. You will collaborate closely with open-source contributors while adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and engineering challenges. The position is ideal for an experienced Python engineer who enjoys open source and wants to have a meaningful impact on the ML developer ecosystem.

Design, develop, and maintain core features across open-source libraries, with a focus on scalability, reliability, usability, and developer experience. Architect complex Python projects and frameworks that serve as foundational tools for machine learning developers. Take early-stage libraries from initial users toward widespread adoption by defining APIs, building demos, improving documentation, and engaging with the developer community. Develop real-time streaming and networking capabilities for Python-based machine learning applications. Contribute to the evolution of developer tooling as machine learning technologies and user needs change. Collaborate with open-source contributors through code reviews, technical discussions, issue resolution, and community support. Integrate modern frontend technologies into Python-based web applications to create intuitive and seamless developer experiences. Balance rapid product development with maintainability, reliability, and long-term architectural considerations. Help shape the technical direction and priorities of developer tools based on community feedback and emerging engineering challenges. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related technical field. 5+ years of professional experience developing software with Python. Strong experience architecting complex Python projects, frameworks, or developer-facing libraries. Demonstrated ability to take early-stage libraries or products from initial users through broader adoption. Professional experience with JavaScript or TypeScript. Professional experience with a modern frontend framework such as React or Svelte. Proven experience contributing to, maintaining, or actively developing open-source software projects. Strong understanding of software architecture, API design, scalability, reliability, and developer experience. Passion for open source and an interest in making machine learning technologies more accessible. Ability to work effectively in a fluid and dynamic environment, taking ownership of evolving technical challenges. Strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly when working with distributed engineering teams and open-source communities. Experience with real-time audio/video streaming or networking technologies such as WebRTC or WebSockets is a plus. Familiarity with relevant ML and developer tooling libraries is valued.
