About Us 🚀
Immutable is the world’s fastest-growing game platform, built to power the next generation of games. We aim to drive the next evolution of gaming, combining performance, digital ownership and cutting-edge technology to help games grow and succeed. At the intersection of AI-driven analytics, high-performance growth tools, and seamless digital ownership, our technology helps studios attract, engage, and scale player communities.
Founded in 2018, Immutable is one of Australia’s fastest companies to reach unicorn status, raising more than AUD $400M+ with a valuation of AUD $3.5B. Today, more than 700 games are building on Immutable, and industry leaders like Ubisoft have chosen us as their partner for the future of gaming.
Over 6 million players use Immutable Passport, our unified identity enabling frictionless cross-game experiences, and our Immutable Audience platform has become the fastest-growing SaaS product line in our history. We're scaling rapidly, backed by a global team of creators, engineers, and gamers united by one mission: to build the most valuable growth layer in gaming and redefine how games launch, scale, and succeed. 🚀
A bit about the role 🤔 We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform team. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who sits genuinely in the middle, real infrastructure ownership and application. Our Platform team exists to accelerate the rest of engineering. As our product teams build out Immutable Audience, our job is to make them faster and safer, removing toil, clearing blockers, and building the paved roads and self-service tooling that let teams ship without reinventing the foundations each time. It's a broad remit. In any given cycle you might be extending our internal Kubernetes operator (written in Go) that provisions services and their supporting AWS resources from a single manifest, improving our observability patterns, hardening reliability, or helping a team choose and integrate a new piece of technology. You'll work across the full stack of how we run software, a primarily AWS environment on EKS, a genuinely multi-cloud setup with GCP powering our data and CDP platform, Terraform, GitOps with Flux, and a Go backend. You'll own things end to end, set your own priorities with light direction, and have real influence over decisions that we'll build on for years. We're back in a scrappy scale-up phase, so there's a lot of room to shape foundations rather than inherit them. We lean heavily into AI across engineering, from day-to-day tooling to agents in our development and incident workflows, and we care as much about how you interrogate what AI produces as how quickly you use it. We're flat, light on process, and we operate a you-build-it-you-run-it model with a shared, voluntary on-call rotation. The team is Sydney-based and in the office three days a week. This role would suit an engineer who's spent time deep in infrastructure and grown into code, or deep in code and grown into infrastructure, and who wants to own a broad surface area on a lean team rather than a narrow slice on a large one.
Own and evolve our AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) foundations, from VPC upwards Develop and release Infrastructure as code Partner closely with security, product and data teams, understanding what they're building and how the platform supports them Define SLOs, SLIs, monitoring, alerting and incident response practices. Set the bar for observability excellence within the organisation Measure systems' health, scalability and performance metrics and identify areas of improvement. Ensure our incident management processes, automation, and remediation are world-class Work as a deep technical expert on the services we have ownership over (e.g., cleanup tech debt, maintenance, new architecture patterns)
Hands-on ownership of data reliability and observability: freshness, anomaly and schema-drift monitoring and data SLOs Deep AWS fundamentals: EKS/Kubernetes as a day-one runtime, Lambda/serverless, networking, multi-AZ Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD, and observability experience A real silent-failure story, caught or missed, that changed how you work Solid Go (or a strong track record of picking up new languages fast) Comfort with AI-assisted development Experience with identity resolution and consent or auth data modelling On-call ownership with considered views on alert fatigue High ownership, candour and a pragmatic, fix-it-while-live disposition
Prior experience in gaming, MarTech or high-volume consumer data Exposure to identity and consent platforms or migrations Interest in Gaming
