Senior Product Designer, Capital Advances

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Designer, Capital Advances based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to shape complex financial products that directly affect merchants and internal operations teams. You’ll design experiences spanning the full capital-advance lifecycle, from application and underwriting through issuance and repayment. The work combines sophisticated internal workflows with high-impact merchant-facing experiences. You’ll turn manual, complex processes into intuitive, efficient, and increasingly automated systems. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, Operations, and other partners, you’ll help define product direction through iterative design. AI will be an important part of your design practice, from research synthesis and rapid prototyping to shaping production experiences. You’ll have meaningful autonomy while contributing to a collaborative environment focused on design quality, systems thinking, and measurable customer impact.

Lead product design initiatives with autonomy, facilitating design reviews, workshops, and working sessions while translating ambiguous concepts into clear, useful, and engaging product experiences. Design end-to-end workflows across internal underwriting and operations tools as well as merchant-facing experiences, ensuring consistency across interconnected journeys. Apply systems thinking across UX, UI, design systems, accessibility, and micro-interactions to create coherent and efficient experiences. Use customer research, behavioral data, and operational insights to identify opportunities and translate findings into practical product solutions. Develop a deep understanding of both merchants and the teams responsible for underwriting and servicing advances, advocating for their needs throughout product development. Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers as part of a cross-functional team, contributing design artifacts that facilitate alignment and informed decision-making. Explore and implement AI-enabled approaches to research synthesis, prototyping, workflow development, and production design, helping advance automation within business operations. Support a vision for increasingly automated business processes while balancing usability, business requirements, policy constraints, and customer needs. Contribute to design quality by validating both product fit and craft, ensuring solutions address the right problems while remaining consistent, accessible, and performant. Requirements 7+ years of practical, in-house product, UX, or UI design experience, ideally including experience taking products from 0 to 1 through development and launch. Strong experience designing complex, workflow-heavy products such as internal tools, admin consoles, case-management systems, operational platforms, or other products where users are completing jobs rather than browsing. Experience working within regulated or highly structured environments where policies, rules, risk considerations, or compliance requirements influence product design; financial services, lending, payments, or related domains are particularly relevant. Demonstrated ability to use AI meaningfully in your design practice, with concrete experience applying agentic workflows or AI tools to research synthesis, prototyping, product development, or production work. Strong UX, UI, and design-systems expertise, with a holistic approach to creating consistent, accessible, intuitive, and high-quality experiences. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions clearly, concisely, and persuasively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills and experience working effectively within agile, cross-functional product teams. Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments, identify opportunities, make informed design decisions, and move initiatives forward. Strong business and product judgment, with the ability to connect design decisions to user needs, operational outcomes, and broader product goals.
