The Opportunity

Acorns, the financial wellness app, is building a new Community product team from scratch. This is a small, senior group with a single mandate: Get people addicted to saving by unlocking network effects inside Acorns. This team understands how to create engagement loops, virality, and habit formation. We want people who’ve mastered those mechanics and are ready to use them for something that improves people’s lives.

As the Senior Product Designer on this team, you’ll be the design voice of a product built to make saving feel as compelling as the best social and gaming apps in the world. You’ll work directly with the CEO, a Senior Product Manager and Senior engineering team to design the engagement loops, social sharing mechanics, and habit-forming experiences that drive organic growth at Acorns.

This is end-to-end ownership from early concept through shipped product on features that will reach millions of people who are often investing for the first time.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Design the engagement loops, sharing moments, and habit-forming mechanics that get people genuinely hooked on saving and bring Acorns into their households

  • Set the quality bar for the Community product including the micro-interactions, the feel, and the delight on a team where design is a competitive advantage

  • Create a product experience that brings to life the central idea of Acorns - from tiny acorns mighty oaks do grow - and feels natural, trustworthy, and alive for a diverse audience that is often new to investing

  • This team moves fast and ships, learns by building, and you’ll be central to how quickly we find what works

  • Operate with agility together with engineering and product to make sure design intent survives to production, every time

Some Things You’ve Likely Done in the Past

  • Designed engagement or retention features at a social, gaming, or high-growth consumer app (streaks, sharing flows, social proof, habit loops) and can point to outcomes

  • Owned the full design process end-to-end: discovery, concept, high-fidelity design, and shipped product

  • Translated ambiguous briefs into sharp, opinionated product directions without waiting to be told what to build

  • Sweated the smallest details across all areas of the product and pushed back when implementation fell short of the intent

  • Worked on a small, cross-functional team with high ownership and low process overhead

  • Built or contributed to a design system that scaled across a product

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and stock options

  • A comprehensive benefits package for you and your family

  • Flexible work location, hours, and paid time off

  • 401(k) matching

  • Monthly Acorns account contribution & GoHenry account for your family

  • Mindfulness and Financial Wellness resources, Headspace and Addition Wealth

  • Acorns Career Development Program (Ongoing training sessions, development plans, development check-ins, Cornerstone’s online training platform)

  • Roots Leadership Program for Emerging Leaders

  • Community week onsite gatherings and various virtual events

  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another, our mission, and our customers.

  • The rare opportunity to create a new world. We inspire one another every day to do meaningful work that solves big societal challenges.
