Senior Product Designer, Operations Tools

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Designer, Operations Tools based in United States. This is a senior product design opportunity focused on creating internal tools for complex financial operations. You will transform intricate workflows, business rules, data, and technical constraints into intuitive and reliable experiences for operational teams. The role spans the full product design lifecycle, from research and workflow discovery through prototyping, implementation, launch, and iteration. You’ll combine systems thinking, AI-powered prototyping, and hands-on development to move ideas efficiently into production. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and business stakeholders, you’ll help solve challenging operational problems while maintaining usability, auditability, and regulatory considerations. This is a hands-on 12-month contract role suited to an independent designer who thrives in technically complex and fast-moving environments.

Own the end-to-end product design process, from research and workflow discovery through prototyping, validation, detailed design, implementation, launch, and post-release iteration. Design complex operational workflows involving multiple user roles, data sources, business rules, approvals, exceptions, and audit requirements. Conduct user research through interviews, observation, workflow analysis, and usability testing to understand the needs and constraints of financial operations teams. Create functional, AI-powered prototypes rapidly to explore concepts, validate ideas, and align product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders. Translate prototypes and design concepts into production-ready experiences, contributing directly to front-end code and participating in code review, testing, deployment, and iteration. Apply systems-level thinking to create data-rich interfaces that help users monitor activity, investigate issues, manage exceptions, and make informed operational decisions. Collaborate closely with engineers and work effectively within established software development processes to bring high-quality experiences into production. Contribute to scalable design-system patterns for tables, forms, dashboards, alerts, approvals, audit histories, and AI-assisted interactions. Manage multiple initiatives independently while clearly communicating progress, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and design decisions. Advocate for operational users throughout the product development process and ensure solutions address real-world workflows and business requirements. Requirements 6+ years of professional product design experience, ideally within startups or other fast-paced environments. Demonstrated experience designing and launching products in complex or technical industries such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, aerospace, or automotive. Strong ability to understand and translate complex processes, data structures, business rules, exceptions, and edge cases into clear and efficient user experiences. Experience designing systems where auditability, reliability, compliance, or regulatory considerations are important. Comfortable reading API documentation and understanding how APIs and technical systems influence product experiences. Hands-on development experience or the ability to contribute effectively to production front-end code is highly valued. Experience with prototyping and AI-assisted product development, with the ability to rapidly create functional concepts for stakeholder alignment. Strong systems-thinking and information-architecture skills, particularly for data-rich operational interfaces. Ability to work independently, create structure in ambiguous environments, and drive projects forward with limited oversight. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions clearly to Product, Engineering, Operations, and business stakeholders. Collaborative mindset with the ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, business requirements, and operational realities.
