Description

Full Job Description

Assala Energy is a young and dynamic Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company with an exciting operated asset base in Gabon, firm core values and a keen sense of responsibility to our employees and stakeholders.

We are seeking to engage a Senior Project Engineering Consultant with deep Process Engineering expertise to provide project-based engineering leadership and deliver defined technical and execution outcomes for major projects. The engagement will be delivered primarily from Assala Energy’s London headquarters, with periodic travel to Gabon as required to support agreed deliverables.

This is a project-based consultancy engagement, operating under a defined scope of work, milestones, and deliverables.

Scope of Services & Key Deliverables

The Consultant will provide independent professional services to support the successful execution of major oil and gas projects, including but not limited to the following deliverables:

  • Delivery oversight for a defined portfolio of complex capital projects across one or more assets, ensuring alignment with agreed technical, commercial, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary engineering inputs to support project execution, without assuming line-management responsibility for Assala Energy personnel.
  • Execution of feasibility studies, concept selection, pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering activities, including development of the Basis of Design, project philosophies, and technical specifications.
  • Technical review, checking, and acceptance of process engineering deliverables produced by external engineering consultancies, including designs, drawings, calculations, and technical data, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards and codes of practice.
  • Preparation of cost estimates, execution strategies, and project plans covering all project phases, with defined assumptions, risks, and contingencies.
  • Advisory support to Assala Energy relating to resource planning, including identification of specialist skills required to achieve project outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Monitoring and control of project performance against agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks, with early identification of risks and delivery impacts.
  • Identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks and change events, with preparation of clear recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Engagement with external vendors and contractors, including technical evaluations, support to commercial negotiations, and advisory input to procurement decisions.
  • Review and approval of engineering design changes and technical deviations in line with project governance.
  • Contribution to the development and refinement of engineering execution methodologies, standards, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Advisory support during installation, commissioning, testing, and handover activities, as required to meet defined project completion criteria.

Requirements

Consultant Experience & Capability Requirements

To deliver the agreed outcomes, the Consultant will demonstrate:

  • A recognised Engineering degree in Process Engineering or a closely related discipline, supported by 10+ years of project-based experience within the Process, Petrochemicals and/or onshore/offshore Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Proven capability to independently develop brownfield and greenfield project designs across conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases, coordinating inputs across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive working knowledge of national and international engineering standards and codes of practice commonly applied to oil and gas treatment facilities.
  • Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership and influence across matrixed project environments, engaging senior stakeholders without reliance on positional authority.
  • A strong record of analytical and creative problem-solving, delivering technically robust solutions within complex operational and commercial constraints.
  • Proven experience supporting vendor selection and contract negotiations, including technical clarification and evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Experience preparing engineering cost inputs and budget estimates, and providing commercially informed recommendations where project scope, risks, or assumptions change.
