Full job description
Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.
The Government Contracts team executes E-Space's US Government portfolio: the contracts, the customer relationships, and the delivery of the programs themselves. We are staffing dedicated project management to each of our five flagship programs. This role is assigned to one of them — with scope that may extend across a related capability area such as ground-based radar, space-based radar, or SIGINT and communications — and owns its execution day to day. The work is integrative by nature: a schedule slip in one subsystem becomes a deliverable problem, a funding problem, and a customer conversation within the same week. We are looking for a project manager who can hold all three at once, on one program, with real depth rather than spread across many. This role reports to the Program Manager, Government Contracts, who owns the portfolio and the overall customer relationship. You own your program. This position will be based out of our Santa Clara, CA or Arlington, TX location.
Define and roll out the scheduling system Establish the company's scheduling standard for Government Programs: WBS and coding structures, calendars, activity and milestone conventions, constraint and logic rules, baseline control, and file governance. Build the Microsoft Project template architecture, custom fields, reporting views, and health-check tooling that every program will run on. Write and own the scheduling process documentation, including the baseline change control procedure and the recurring status cycle. Train and drive adoption across Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Mission Systems Engineers. Define how schedule data integrates with cost, risk, staffing, and customer reporting as those functions mature. Own the portfolio IMS Serve as the authoritative owner of all Microsoft Project files and the Integrated Master Schedule for every program in the Government Programs portfolio. Build and maintain master/subproject architectures with cross-program dependencies, shared resource structures, and clean vertical and horizontal traceability. Align schedule architecture to the contract WBS, WBS dictionary, SOW/PWS scope, and CDRL delivery obligations. Establish performance measurement baselines and control changes to them through a documented, auditable process. Analyze, not just maintain Own critical path and driving path analysis, float analysis, and schedule margin strategy across programs. Run schedule health assessments and drive findings to closure by consulting responsible leads. Build and run what-if, recovery, and de-scope scenarios to support program and executive decision-making. Perform schedule risk analysis and tie risk register items to schedule margin and contingency. Identify schedule risk before the program owner does — long-lead procurement, test asset availability, integration and range access, qualification cycles, and software and ground segment dependencies. Face the customer Own schedule content and narrative for Government program reviews (PMRs, SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs). Prepare and deliver schedule-related contract deliverables and Government reporting. Support capture and proposal efforts with proposal IMS/IMP structures, schedule basis of estimate, milestone and payment schedules, and schedule realism defense. Grow the function Build the scheduling and planning capability as the portfolio grows, including scoping and mentoring additional schedulers or planners over time.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. 10+ years of program scheduling, planning, or project controls experience, with a substantial majority in the space industry — satellite, spacecraft, payload, launch, or ground segment development programs. Demonstrated ownership of an IMS on at least one major space development program, from initial build through baseline through execution and delivery. Track record of defining and rolling out scheduling process, standards, or tooling across an organization — not solely executing within someone else's system. Expert-level Microsoft Project proficiency: master/subproject architectures, external dependencies, resource pools, custom fields and formulas, reporting views, and baseline management. Deep command of schedule logic, critical path method, float and margin management, and network analysis. Fluency with schedule health assessment methodology. Working knowledge of U.S. Government contract types (FFP, CPFF, CPIF, OTA) and how contract structure drives schedule, deliverable, and reporting obligations. Credibility and confidence to defend schedule realism. Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (22 CFR §120.62) and eligible to access export-controlled technical data. Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Active U.S. Government security clearance. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems, including cost and schedule integration and IPMDAR, CPR, or equivalent reporting. Experience developing and maintaining resource-loaded schedules to support staffing and capacity forecasting. Experience scheduling integrated hardware, software, and ground/site-integration efforts within a single IMS. Experience supporting DCMA or Government schedule surveillance, Integrated Baseline Reviews, or joint schedule reviews. Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where process had to be built rather than inherited.
This is a fast-paced, high-impact environment - flexibility to work extended hours or weekends during critical periods is expected.
