Define and evolve the long-term architecture of the MDEP device OS platform. Drive architectural decisions across the operating system, platform services, device capabilities, security, manageability, application platform, and cloud-connected experiences. Apply systems thinking across kernel and OS fundamentals, hardware abstraction, system services, application frameworks, networking, identity, security, device management, telemetry, and cloud services. Translate architectural direction into practical designs that engineering teams can implement, operate, service, and evolve. Ensure that device architecture and Azure-based services form a coherent end-to-end platform. Provide technical leadership through design reviews, technical discussions, prototypes, and written specifications. Engage internal and external partners to understand requirements and support a diverse device and solution ecosystem. Balance near-term product requirements with the long-term integrity and evolution of the platform. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND proven technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Previous experience with Linux-based Operating systems architecture, embedded Linux, or other open-source operating system platforms. Experience with Cloud architecture, Device to Cloud architectures and Distributed Systems. Experience with Embedded systems, device platforms, hardware/software interfaces, device drivers, firmware, or hardware abstraction layers. Worked on Device-management and fleet-scale services, including enrollment, policy, software deployment, health monitoring, and lifecycle operations. Designing or evolving complex platform software used by multiple products, applications, or engineering organizations. Open-source software architecture, upstream projects, dependency management, and product engineering on open-source foundations. Proven experience with Embedded systems, device platforms, hardware/software interfaces, device drivers, firmware, or hardware abstraction layers. Telemetry and observability architectures that connect device signals to cloud monitoring, diagnostics, analytics, and operational workflows. Containers, virtualization, isolation technologies, or workload management. Security architecture spanning devices, operating systems, identity, networking, services, and cloud infrastructure. Linux kernel, system-level Linux development, or Linux distribution engineering. Android platform architecture, Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android framework, hardware abstraction layers, system services, or Android security architecture. Azure services for connected devices, identity, management, telemetry, or distributed systems. Device security, secure boot, attestation, trusted computing, identity, and platform security. Over-the-air updates, OS servicing, release engineering, and long-lived device lifecycle management. Developer platforms, SDKs, APIs, application models, and extensibility architectures.
