Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in United States. This role offers the opportunity to build and scale highly available software used by millions of K–12 students worldwide. As part of the Student Activities team, you will own features end-to-end across the full technology stack. You’ll work across React and TypeScript, backend services, APIs, PostgreSQL, infrastructure, and data pipelines. Your work will directly support digital experiences used by students, teachers, and school administrators every day. You’ll contribute to technical direction, system reliability, engineering practices, and thoughtful adoption of AI-powered development tools. The environment is collaborative and distributed, with close partnerships across engineering, product, and design. This is a senior-level opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping evolve a large-scale education technology platform.

Architect, design, and develop end-to-end features spanning React/TypeScript, backend services, APIs, infrastructure, and data pipelines. Design robust data models and schemas that remain accurate, performant, scalable, and maintainable. Build and maintain highly available web and backend systems capable of supporting millions of users and thousands of requests per second. Maintain and evolve backend services that power student practice, progress tracking, and reporting experiences. Thoughtfully adopt AI tools to accelerate individual productivity and improve how the team builds, tests, ships, and maintains software. Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote strong engineering standards and development practices. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers in a distributed, agile environment. Participate in the on-call rotation and help resolve customer-facing incidents quickly and effectively. Requirements: 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering high-quality web-based software for large user populations. Strong full-stack development expertise, including hands-on experience with React or a comparable single-page application framework, TypeScript, backend services, and APIs. Solid data modeling capabilities and experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL. Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring other software engineers. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and distributed teams. Experience with event-based or event-driven architecture is a plus. Experience with AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3/CloudFront, ElastiCache, or Lambda, as well as Docker, is advantageous. Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and observability platforms such as Datadog, Bugsnag, or similar technologies is a plus. An interest in education technology and improving outcomes for students and teachers is valued. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Benefits: Base salary range of $109,500–$150,550, depending on experience and location. Remote work within the United States. Medical, prescription, dental, vision, and telehealth coverage. Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. 401(k) and Roth 401(k) plans with company matching. Paid vacation and sick time off. 12 paid holidays. Parental leave totaling up to 20 weeks, including 14 weeks paid, plus access to a Milk Stork program. Tuition reimbursement. Life and disability insurance. Well-being resources and Employee Assistance Programs.
