Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Financial Accounting based in Brazil. This role offers the opportunity to build and operate mission-critical backend services supporting financial accounting and reconciliation at significant scale. You will contribute to systems responsible for ledger management, financial controls, settlements, and regulatory reporting. Working with Java and/or Go in an AWS environment, you will help design reliable, secure, and scalable services across the full software development lifecycle. The position combines software engineering with financial domain expertise, requiring strong attention to accuracy, traceability, auditability, and compliance. You will collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Accounting, and Engineering teams to translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to work on business-critical financial technology and distributed systems.

Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, secure backend services using Java and/or Go, deployed in AWS cloud environments. Design and implement financial accounting and processing solutions that support accuracy, traceability, auditability, and regulatory compliance. Build and evolve event-driven architectures responsible for accounting records, financial balances, reconciliations, settlements, and regulatory outputs. Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support. Develop automated unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests to validate both technical behavior and financial correctness. Provision and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices. Monitor critical financial workflows through logs, metrics, alerts, and distributed tracing, proactively identifying and resolving production issues. Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions, contributing to decisions around code quality, scalability, resilience, performance, reliability, and maintainability. Collaborate with Product Managers, Accounting Specialists, Finance teams, and Engineering colleagues to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Support incident response and operational excellence initiatives for business-critical services. Contribute to the continuous evolution of the accounting platform, including support for new products, financial controls, and regulatory requirements. Stay current with relevant accounting concepts, regulatory developments, industry trends, and modern software engineering practices. Requirements: 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer developing and operating backend services in production environments, or equivalent relevant experience based on the stated qualification requirements. Strong proficiency in Java and/or Go, with experience developing clean, efficient, testable, and well-documented software. Solid experience designing, building, and operating microservices and distributed systems in cloud environments. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, and other cloud-native technologies. Strong understanding of event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, and eventual consistency. Advanced Git skills and experience working effectively with complex collaboration and version-control scenarios. Strong testing expertise across unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing. Experience designing and documenting APIs using OpenAPI, Swagger, or comparable tools. Experience with Infrastructure as Code and deployment pipelines using Terraform, ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Codefresh, or similar technologies. Advanced experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments. Strong knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and transactional consistency. Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and resolving complex production issues. Familiarity with observability practices including monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and production diagnostics. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps principles. Ability to contribute to technical decisions involving scalability, reliability, financial integrity, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with financial processing concepts such as ledgers, reconciliation, accounting events, financial balances, and auditability. Bachelor's or Associate's degree with relevant professional experience, or equivalent experience according to the role's qualification requirements. Intermediate English proficiency at B1 level or above. Experience in banking, fintech, payments, issuing, acquiring, financial services, or core banking platforms is a plus. Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger processes, financial controls, and audit requirements is advantageous. Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, or financial reporting initiatives is beneficial. AWS certifications and experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude are also advantageous. Benefits: Fully remote position within Brazil. Opportunity to work on mission-critical financial technology and large-scale distributed systems. Exposure to modern cloud-native technologies, event-driven architectures, Infrastructure as Code, and AI-assisted development tools. Collaborative environment spanning Engineering, Product, Finance, Accounting, and other business functions. Opportunity to contribute to high-impact solutions supporting financial accuracy, operational efficiency, compliance, and platform reliability. Access to opportunities for professional and technical growth through work on complex financial and software engineering challenges. Employment and benefits are provided in accordance with applicable local requirements and the terms of the engagement.
