Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (GIS) based in United States. The Senior Software Engineer (GIS) will lead the development of cloud-native geospatial applications supporting mission-critical public safety and enterprise environments. This senior individual contributor role combines full-stack software engineering, geospatial technology, and modern cloud infrastructure. You will build scalable systems where performance, reliability, security, and data accuracy are essential. The position offers the opportunity to work with advanced GIS platforms, spatial data systems, serverless architectures, and AI-enabled workflows. You will also help strengthen engineering practices through mentorship, code reviews, and technical leadership. This is a fully remote role supporting clients and operations across the United States.

Design and develop scalable, high-performance microservices and full-stack geospatial applications for mission-critical environments. Architect serverless solutions and RESTful APIs for geospatial data services, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and modern API standards. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure-as-code practices to enable consistent, repeatable, and auditable deployments. Integrate enterprise GIS platforms and spatial data processing systems while ensuring accurate, performant, and interoperable data flows. Embed security guardrails, multi-tenant isolation, and compliance controls throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle. Mentor engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, and establish engineering best practices that improve the team's technical capabilities. Maintain accountability for the quality, health, performance, and continued evolution of geospatial engineering deliverables across assigned products. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of experience developing full-stack web applications. Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend and backend development frameworks. Hands-on experience with geospatial technologies such as Esri, MapLibre, Mapbox, or equivalent platforms. Practical experience with AWS and serverless cloud architectures. Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design patterns. Experience working with relational and spatial databases, with PostgreSQL and PostGIS preferred. Proficiency with version control systems and agile software development methodologies. AWS Developer Associate or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is preferred. Familiarity with indoor mapping standards, public safety GIS workflows, CI/CD automation, or infrastructure-as-code practices is a plus. Strong communication, mentoring, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills. Ability to work remotely while collaborating effectively with distributed teams and supporting mission-critical client environments. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without restrictions indefinitely; sponsorship is not provided. Candidates must complete identity verification and one face-to-face interview at one of the organization's offices nationwide. Benefits: Compensation range of approximately $130,000–$149,600, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, education, and work location. Fully remote position within the United States. Medical, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) retirement plan. Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability coverage. Generous paid time off. Professional and personal development opportunities. Commuter and wellness benefits. Opportunity to work on mission-critical geospatial and public safety technology.
