Senior Software Engineer, iCasino

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, iCasino based in Canada. This is a senior engineering role focused on building and scaling highly reliable online casino technology. You will work on the systems behind casino lobbies, game launches, third-party provider integrations, and real-money wagering flows. The role combines hands-on development, technical architecture, production performance, and end-to-end feature ownership. You will solve complex engineering challenges while ensuring scalability, resilience, and reliability across critical services. Collaboration with engineering teams, leadership, and technology partners is central to the role. You will also mentor other engineers and help shape the technical direction of a sophisticated digital gaming platform.

Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries supporting casino lobbies, game launches, and real-money wagering. Design, architect, and deliver new features and third-party game provider integrations from conception through production. Own highly complex technical challenges, develop solution proposals, and present them to leadership and partner teams for review and alignment. Identify production bottlenecks, scalability constraints, and technical risks, then drive improvements that strengthen platform performance and reliability. Establish and refine monitoring and alerting through Datadog for the systems and services under your ownership. Investigate production performance issues, including CPU hotspots and latency regressions in high-throughput services. Participate in on-call rotations and take end-to-end ownership of production release cycles. Mentor engineers across teams through technical specifications, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver reliable, scalable products and continuously improve engineering practices. Requirements: At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. 2+ years of hands-on experience building applications with Elixir is required. 2+ years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas is required. Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design. Proven experience working with production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, performance analysis, and optimization. Experience diagnosing and resolving production performance regressions, particularly CPU and latency issues in high-throughput services. Strong understanding of clean code architecture and software craftsmanship. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documentation. Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL. Experience with Kubernetes and containerized service environments. Comfortable working with terminal-based development tools, Git, GitHub or similar platforms, and modern code editors. Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent. Experience with background job processing technologies such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk. Experience with asynchronous event-handling systems such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub. Experience in iCasino, sports betting, or another regulated real-money environment is a plus. Familiarity with game provider and wallet integrations, hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Development, open-source contributions, or startup environments is desirable.
