This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II, Route Planning based in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to build software that directly improves how physical operations are planned and executed at scale. As part of the Route Planning team, you’ll design products that help businesses optimize deliveries, fleet utilization, navigation, and day-of-delivery changes. You’ll work across the full technology stack, building scalable frontend and backend features for customers across industries such as grocery delivery, transportation, and energy. The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with opportunities to shape products as the team expands into new verticals. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, design, and customers while applying strong technical judgment and modern AI capabilities. The role also provides an opportunity to mentor engineers and contribute to the technical direction of a rapidly scaling product organization.
Design, develop, and deliver end-to-end software features spanning frontend and backend systems for a diverse customer base. Build and improve Route Planning products that help customers recover operational efficiency, manage changing delivery demands, and optimize fleet utilization. Contribute to routing, navigation, and route execution products while helping define how their effectiveness and efficiency are measured. Work closely with product managers and designers to create intuitive interfaces and APIs that make planners’ workflows more efficient. Use AI thoughtfully to accelerate prototyping, unblock customer-related opportunities, improve development workflows, and reduce technical risk. Partner with engineering managers and staff engineers to promote technical excellence, sound engineering practices, and scalable architecture. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to developing a strong technical team capable of delivering high-quality solutions. Engage directly with customers when needed to understand their challenges and ensure product development translates into meaningful customer outcomes. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 6+ years of professional software engineering experience. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and independently navigate complex technical challenges. Strong software development capabilities with experience building and delivering production-quality applications across frontend and backend systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical stakeholders and customers. Proven experience developing, shaping, or improving routing and navigation products is a plus. Experience working in 0→1 environments and helping teams or products scale beyond the startup phase is a plus. Experience serving as a technical lead or in a comparable role where your technical contributions directly influence the output of other engineers is a plus. A strong interest in mentoring engineers and supporting the growth of junior team members. Customer-oriented mindset and willingness to participate in customer conversations when required. Growth mindset, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and solving complex problems. Strong collaborative skills and the ability to balance independent execution with effective teamwork. Benefits Annual base salary range of $154,700–$260,000 USD , with actual compensation varying based on factors such as geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Eligibility for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff , plus ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance and applicable plan terms.
