Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Institutional, Settlements & Transfers) based in United States. This role offers the opportunity to build and scale the backend infrastructure responsible for securely moving funds across fiat, crypto, and internal ledger systems. You will work on critical financial infrastructure supporting institutional clients and high-volume transaction processing at scale. The position combines backend engineering, distributed systems, system design, performance optimization, and technical leadership. You will help shape the architecture of settlement and transfer services while driving improvements in reliability, scalability, and engineering velocity. The role provides significant technical ownership, with opportunities to influence roadmaps, mentor engineers, and solve complex production challenges. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders in a demanding, remote-first environment focused on building the future of financial infrastructure. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys owning complex systems and delivering highly reliable services at scale.

Own the design, development, and scaling of backend services responsible for settlements and transfers across fiat, cryptocurrency, and internal ledger systems. Drive high standards for code quality and maintainability through thorough code reviews, refactoring, testing, documentation, and active involvement throughout the software development lifecycle. Lead performance and scalability initiatives for critical financial infrastructure, investigating production issues, troubleshooting system behavior, and driving effective resolutions. Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate product objectives into clear quarterly technical roadmaps, priorities, and deliverables. Propose and implement architectural improvements that increase engineering velocity, reduce technical debt, strengthen reliability, and improve the long-term maintainability of distributed systems. Make and communicate system design decisions, lead technical proposals, and build alignment across engineering teams around effective technical solutions. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers by sharing technical expertise, providing constructive feedback, and promoting strong engineering practices across the team. Take ownership of complex backend initiatives from design through implementation, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement. Requirements Bring 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, including designing, building, and maintaining production services operating at significant scale. Have professional production experience with Go or a comparable backend programming language, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and message-based architectures such as Kafka or equivalent technologies. Demonstrate strong system design capabilities and the ability to make sound architectural decisions, develop technical proposals, and drive alignment among engineering stakeholders. Have a proven track record of identifying and resolving quality, performance, reliability, and scalability challenges within distributed systems. Demonstrate strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience with testing, documentation, code reviews, refactoring, and maintaining high-quality production systems. Possess experience mentoring engineers and contributing to a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and strong engineering standards. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment where you are expected to take ownership of complex problems and drive initiatives through completion. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with product and engineering stakeholders while communicating complex technical concepts clearly. Use generative AI responsibly as part of the engineering workflow, maintaining appropriate human oversight and understanding of generated outputs to deliver business-ready solutions and measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality. Benefits Annual base salary of $207,955–$218,900 USD , excluding potential equity and bonus compensation. Potential eligibility for equity and bonus compensation as part of the overall total rewards package. Medical, dental, and vision coverage with competitive employee contributions. Health Savings Account with company contributions each pay period. Disability and life insurance coverage. 401(k) retirement plan with company matching. Wellness stipend to support health and wellbeing. Mobile and internet reimbursement. Volunteer Time Off to support community involvement. Fertility counseling and related benefits. Generous time-off and leave policies. Option to receive compensation in digital currency. Remote-first work environment with periodic quarterly in-person working sessions and occasional travel for team collaboration or company events.
