Senior Software Engineer - Payments & Treasury

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Payments & Treasury based in Brazil. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and scale the systems that power modern global payments and treasury operations. You’ll work on highly scalable, event-driven services where resilience, integrity, and operational reliability are essential. The role offers significant autonomy to design and implement solutions while helping shape technical and product goals. You’ll contribute to financial infrastructure serving large volumes of transactions and supporting global markets and asset classes. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers across a globally distributed organization while working with modern cloud and orchestration technologies. Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs supporting global payments and treasury workflows. Develop resilient, event-driven systems with a strong focus on reliability, system integrity, technical scalability, and operational excellence. Architect and implement solutions using domain-driven design, distributed systems principles, messaging infrastructure, and modern cloud architectures. Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and proactively identify, debug, and prevent system issues. Contribute to the evolution of an integrated treasury platform and financial infrastructure operating across global markets and asset classes. Work with payment rails, payment lifecycles, financial ledgers, and double-entry accounting concepts to build reliable money movement systems. Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams, communicate technical decisions clearly, and contribute to defining goals and challenging existing approaches when appropriate. Apply modern infrastructure, containerization, orchestration, and DevOps practices to support scalable and dependable services. Participate in periodic on-call responsibilities to help maintain the reliability of production systems. Requirements: At least 3 years of experience building and operating systems at scale, with proven experience developing and maintaining microservices. Strong software engineering and coding skills, preferably with Go , along with the ability to produce clean, well-tested, and maintainable code. Experience building and supporting client-facing APIs and distributed systems. Strong understanding of domain-driven design and event-driven architecture. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes . Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . Familiarity with messaging queues, message brokers, relational databases, and preferably PostgreSQL . Understanding of payment rails and the payment lifecycle, with experience or knowledge of double-entry accounting and financial ledgers. Strong problem-solving abilities, proactive thinking, and the ability to anticipate and prevent technical issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively within distributed teams. Preference for simple, elegant solutions and the confidence to contribute ideas, challenge conventions, and make sound technical decisions. Nice to have: experience with financial reconciliation systems, payment initiation, or the ISO 20022 financial messaging standard. Nice to have: previous experience in financial services, payments, startups, exchanges, brokerages, market makers, or hedge funds.
